And I know it was kinda unessential, but it would've kicked ass if they actually had the Prime Minister scene in the movie and managed to get Tony Blair to do it. It'd add that much more authenticity to the whole thing. That was one of THE BEST scenes written into any of the books.

Voldemorts Family past probably wont be in HP:DH. The ring in 6 doesn't look anything like the stone is supposed to if you notice and they didn't have any of the memories for the next movie to follow up on.

Fact is the next 2 movies are likely going to be extremely loosely based on the book

I can genuinely say that the VFX were the only thing that kept me watching. Particularly the smoke effects, my god they were sexy.

I view the movies as separate from the books, and comparing books to their movie adaptations always end in the same hysteric emo-ing that "omfg movie not as good as the book omfg omfg" anyway. I loved the books like WHOA (except maybe the DH epilogue, but I just don't read that :D ), and I loved the movies like WHOA!

I think in comparison this one was able to take the huge book, and put a lot of info without seeming madly rushed. Always hard to take a huge book and put it into 2:30 minutes. And that failed in GoF when they smashed as much in it as possible, that even after reading the books, seemed extremely hard to follow.


I found this one a lot of fun and well done. Only beef I may have is like other say with the ending with harry just standing there. but form a film's perspective I can imagine it would have been somewhat difficult to make a good scene while zooming into harry under the cloak (like in the first movie for continuity) .

I haven't read the books, as I never really gave a shit about Harry Potter until this past week, my boyfriend put the movies on and we watched all of them. I went in with an open mind, but I really did like them, so we went to see the newest one. I enjoyed it. When I get a bit of extra money I'll pick up the books and actually sit down and read them, now that the movies have piqued my interest.

Not knowing about all that I've missed, I don't feel like the story is terribly hard to follow or anything like that. The series is overall enjoyable.

That's my two cents, for what it's worth. If you'd asked me two weeks ago what I thought of Harry Potter I would have thought you were crazy for asking me, but the stories have gotten a good hold on me. I think that's pretty successful.

As a note I haven't read the books either. I thought the movie was good until the ending which was lame as hell. It all felt like it was building up to something and then just ended. I know Dumbledore died yaya, but when a character of that magnitude dies I should really care. The way this movie portrayed it I could not have cared less.

I like the thirty endings of Return of the King better.

Liked it, hated phoenix so I'm glad he changed his line of thinking. (If that was the case.) I agree with the few of you saying you enjoyed Luna. Me and my gf were cracking up cause she seems -exactly- how she should be straight from the book. Goofy, but very cute goofy.

I haven't seen Order of the Phoenix, and I am far from a Harry Potter fan (read a few of the earlier books when they first came out, but that's it), but I've always enjoyed the movies. One thing I liked about them was the formula of a lot of buildup (dialog, backstory, etc.) and an awesome, climactic second half and ending. I felt that HBP deviated from this formula, and I really didn't like it. The movie seemed to lack the sense of pace and timing the first four had, and that really threw me off. That, and the fact that it really just seemed like one big cocktease for the next two films.

That's actually kinda how the book is too.. the interactions between Dumbledore & Harry are all preparation for Harry's eventual showdown with Voldemort in the final book.

Saw it in 3D IMAX and thought the smoke effects were soooooooo awesomeamazingomg I loved them. Every scene with the smoke effects were so cool. They were awesome in Phoenix too, but I loved them in this movie. The Quidditch in the movie was also so much fun. Everytime they have Quidditch in these movies it always really excites me, because it's always done really well.

I read the book when it first came out and read the wiki before I saw the movie, so all the small details weren't really that fresh in my mind when I saw the movie. I thought that the first 3/4 of the movie was great, and the entire end from the horcrux part on was boring/anticlimactic. It felt very Hollywood instead of leaving you with a sad taste in your mouth, like you should feel when Dumbledore dies.

But I'm still a huge fan of the series and am waiting in anticipation for the next two entries. I think it's one thing to expect a lot from the books and another to expect a lot from the adaptations of those books.

In 50+ years when the remakes of the series come out, maybe they will be more true to the story, but for now I think that they're doing a decent job. The movies are pretty entertaining, and even if a handful of people don't like them, the movie is making HUGE money for the studio, which is all they care about in the end.
