FFXI Freezing, no idea why

So I just built a computer and for some reason, FFXI randomly freezes. I'll leave it sitting for 20 minutes or so on a chatlog screen, and it will freeze completely. The computer doesn't turn off. I'm pretty positive it's not overheating, monitored the temperature and it's around 50 celsius. It's not a virus either, as I haven't done a single thing on the internet besides making sure it worked with google.

So anyone have any ideas? I'm gonna try flashing the bios and updating the video card drivers, but I don't know what else it could be. Not sure if the video card's bad or not.

Specs below:

p45 Platinum Motherboard
HD 4850 Visualtek Videocard
Intel E8400 Processor
4 GB DDR2 Corsair ram

edit: This is all happening with the latest windower version, not sure if that matters much.

Try different video card drivers. Some of them cause the game to crash/known issue.

do you mean the chat log open to the screen with the tabs for say/tell/pt/ls/shout?

do you have multiple ffxis open? i have this same thing happen if i open the chatlog with multiple windows open.

I updated the motherboard and it now works fine apparently. I did try updating to the latest driver, but it put me at a constant 15 FPS, so I had to switch back.

And yes Mafai, the chatlog with the tabs on it. I didn't have anything else running though.
