My biggest problem with alla is that you don't have to post useful shit to get rated up.

The #1 key to Alla is to completely ignore the rating system.

The rating system rarely, if ever, corresponds to the people who know what they are talking about. Furthermore, being rated down is (generally) just as insignificant as being rated up; neither have any real consequences in practice.

Alla was (pretty sure it still is) nothing but a cesspool of sock accounts, rate downs & flame wars.

Mods can detect socks and ban if necessary I think. Flame wars are common no matter what forum you visit, however, mods tend to come in and extinguish the flames before it gets way out of hand. At least that's what happened when one started against a player on Garuda.

Yeah, but sub-defaults can make some posts filter out regardless of whether or not the content is factual or made up. Most people know to never filter at least.

The real problem is the newbies come in, see a jerkoff titled sage, and most assume he must be knowledgable,when in fact he's about as sharp as a marbled and 'skilled' as a mentally retarded baby seal.

The stigma of Alla with all of the internet forums, besides BG, is that its only moderated when something NSFW gets posted so you have a lot of idiots running around posting on KI and Alla these ridiculous theories, etc.

Alla: The one place where talk about defeating a new mission/mob/quest can and will turn into a thread about the evils of windower and the many uses for PUP, all within the first page... and the mods will let it go on for at least 3.

Alla: Askar Zucchetto, no matter how wrong it is. Getting rated down for suggesting that Dusk Gloves, Swift Belt, Byakko's Haidate, and Aurum Sabatons aren't 'the end goal'. Getting rated down for suggesting that an LS that puts it's melees in a party with no form of haste is a failure. Getting rated down for suggesting that somebody sub SAM and use Hasso to add another 10% Haste. Getting rated down again for reminding people that the topic at hand was bird camp... where you should always be getting double March and Haste, no matter what. Holy fuck, somebody stop the insanity!

Alla: Somebody asks what the most desired jobs for end-game are. After half a page of trash, one person gives neat, concise information listing every job. A flurry of rate downs later, and somebody else posts his own neat, concise information - downplaying - every job, except BST, which gets 5 lines. Oh, and PUP... can't forget the multi-paragraph diatribe on the wonders that PUP brings to all aspects of end-game, and how much better off every end-game LS would be if they would just give those poor, misunderstood PUPs a chance. Rate up! Two more pages of PUP to go... now all they have to do is figure out how to get windower in there.

Once there was an SE interview (berticus? I forget who), and good portion of the questions involved AV + hnm.

Some chick flipped that all these interviews were talking about endgame, and was really unfair to the playerbase that didn't care about endgame (wut?). She wrote this long ass tirade about it and said "safe face" instead of "save face" once or twice. Then some bg peeps trolled her and got themselves banned.


This was kinda recent but it basically is a good example as to why people can't stand alla. Bg = wants endgame fixed. Alla = wants to lvl 504985 jobs on 4509846 toons and couldn't give a crap about endgame.

That being said, I scour Allakhazam and Killing Ifrit at times, as a forum whore, it is in my nature. I guess the biggest issue I have is you need a sifter to get to the content in most of the threads in either forum. This is not, however, unlike BG itself, you do definitely need to sift the bad from the good here too- it is simply that I have grown accustomed to the garbage posts here (having contributed my fair share), while not so much elsewhere.

That, and the nuggets of useful information found in these forums are oft-repeated mantras of players here. That is to say; most information is so widespread now, and most "new information" is spread so quickly, it doesn't really matter which forum you read- just the one with the people you like best. Something found on Allakhazam, will no doubt be posted on BG and vice versa. I am not really sure what my point is, but forum rivalries are terribly stupid, especially when we have pchan running all over the place here.

Oh, the rating system & word filtering sucks, and I don't have an account there(cause it's banned). Plus, you need to pay to be able to search the forums (or at least it used to be that way). That and I was on their radio show whilst being banned, that was my favorite. All we really did was bitch about Einherjar and I didn't really get to fool around as much as I wanted.

Forget Limbus, Einherjar, Salvage, Sea, KSNM99s, SCNMs, ENM pops, ZNMs, or even Dynamis... those take more than 1 person, and sometimes the person even has to know what they are doing!

Nope, nothing to do but campaign away, and you can't even do that since fortifications got nerfed. I mean, fer real... it's hard enough to get exp as it is, but not being able to afk for 30 minutes while your character gets 5k of exp and 2k allied notes?! What a fucking gyp, I want my money back! And I thought SE was on my side when they fixed it so people subbing BRD couldn't get free exp for sitting at their keyboard hitting the same macro over and over for 30 minutes in order to get 3k exp. That's a crock of shit.
