My philosophy about FFXI compatriates is to play with the people you want to play with and ignore the people you don't want to play with. No point getting upset that the people you don't want to play with play badly. Just ignore them and let them carry on and do their own thing in whatever way they want to. If they ask for advice, give them advice. If they reject that advice, it's their loss, not yours.

Just ignore Allakaham (except if you feel like a giggle) and do your own thing. At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter.

That's like saying if, say, a person said, "Homosexuals are awful perverts and dudes shouldn't bang dudes in the butt", and that person routinely has sex with 15 y.o.s, that they're hypocritical, because they have shitty sexual practices and are criticizing other's sexual practices. When in actuality they just think banging 15 y.o.s is ok and banging dudes in the butt is wrong. They'd be hypocritical if they were secretly banging dudes in the butt.

Going "omg hypocrisy" is just a cheap way to win an argument when someone's criticizing someone else for a particular kind of criticizing they don't like. It's a bit like saying the U.S. government is hypocritical for arresting people for kidnapping.

OP response: board elitism is laughably cliquish. There's a lot of useful info found on alla, and good posters. The difference between the boards comes down to, IMO, the ratio of people who can back up their statements vs. those that can't on alla is lower than on BG. If you can discern between the two types you can get good info from anywhere.

I'm pretty sure I didn't admit anything like that, and after skimming the chat log, I'm absolutely sure! I think you misread the part where after an hour of beating my head in a futile attempt at explaining high school math to you I tried socratic method instead. Quick hint, if I made any vague concessions, it was to get you to stop blaring on about your non-existent math faculties. That thread* you're mentioning... I mean, I guess you missed the part where three or four people quoted a post I made about the difference between exponential, rational, and linear functions, saying how it was about time somebody explained it so clearly, since if you hadn't you'd probably stop bleating feebly about when I got laughed out of BG.

You on the other hand mentioned something ridiculous about a three variable planar function, and you make ridiculous simulations based on cratio formulas which are obviously no longer correct, which is something myself, ringthree, VZX and Araelus have demonstrated on these forums**.

But hay if you really wanna dredge this shit up again feel free to necropost some threads and argue the fuck out of it on a forum where you don't have a scholar rank and a legion of loyal morons to defend you.

Unlike in your analogies, AV is under similar pretenses that would make him subject to his own reasoning. Suggesting that an arrest is similar to kidnapping either shows a lack of comprehension as far as what an arrest is, or shows a lack of understanding when it comes to similar pretenses.

In this case, AV is suggesting that two forum types stop with the name calling (He referred to "Elitist" and "Allatard). At the same time, he insulted both sides. When you're making a suggestion instead of actual fact (Yes, playing "nice" with each other being good is *not* a fact), it's important that the speaker himself can abide by those rules when under similar circumstances. It is blatantly clear that he does not. Moreover, I would argue that he takes up the "BG Elitist stance" (The one he is arguing *against*) in his last post where he justified his disrespect by stating this his point was correct and had value. This is no different than me going to the DRG forums on Alla and saying that a pack of members are a bunch of Allatards because they don't know the situations in which Pole Grip will out do Sword Grip (When maintaining a 6-Hit Build) and justifying my disrespect by stating that I am correct. Thus, while trying to criticize the BG Elitist style of posting, he does it himself. Hypocritical? Indeed.

Edit: I don't know what a YOS is, and I don't care to know. However, if it's the same act, then the individual is a hypocritical. If not, then one of or both of those key terms are the reason he would not be hypocritical.

3-4 people out of 3 pages? Nice ratio. Truth be told I didn't see anyone, so I'll take your word on that. Mainly because I couldn't bother to read past the first page. Can only read over the exact same arguments worded by different people so many times.

I vaguely remember something about mentioning a planar function due to there being multiple variables when you're comparing different stats, but I don't remember the specifics because I don't tend to rack my memory over stupid semantics arguments like that.

I'm pretty sure "15 y.o.s" stands for "15 year olds". I find this abbreviation to be less annoying than y/o, at least, but it's probably just easier to type it out (as illustrated).
