    FFXI Parser on Vista

I recently switched to Vista and haven't been getting any of the parsers to work. Was wondering if it just wasn't possible, or if I'm doing something wrong? If I am doing something wrong could you please help me figure out what.

Disable UAC is usually the 1st step in fixing most vista issues

Disabling UAC -- not "double UAC" -- is the removal of a truly unimportant "security feature," the sort that's more of a pain in the ass than an aid.

Which version do you have? If you have anything fancier (e.g., Business/Enterprise/Ultimate), there's a few things you can do to change how Vista runs. You will need to be on an account with administrator priveleges.

As far as disabling UAC goes: User Account Control - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

These are some tips for the "fancier" versions of Vista: Top 10 Tweaks, Tips, and Tricks for Windows Vista | Chris Pirillo

Now, as far as the parser is concerned, I'm pretty sure it will work if you allow it administrator privileges. To do that: John Barnett's Windows Vista Support: Run As Administrator

If the "Run as Administrator" tactic works, you can set the application so it permanently runs that way -- not requiring all the button pressing, just a normal double-click -- by bringing up its Properties window again.

This is done by right-clicking the icon, and selecting "Properties/File Properties." From there, select the "Compatibility" tab, and check the "Run as Administrator" box.

You can also try setting the program to Windows XP compatibility in the same area if administrator access isn't enough.

I tried disabling UAC, Running as admin, and putting it in XP mode. As far as DirectParse goes, it just won't record anything. KParser gives an error message whenever I click to start the parse saying: Could not load file or assembly "'System.data.sqlserverce, version:3.5.0.0 Culture=neutral, publickeytoken=89845dcd8080cc91 or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."

Ok I lied that didn't work. The chat function of Kparser is working fine but none of the offense or defense is showing up.

Looks like you're having issues almost identical to the ones I faced.

Download this: Download details: .NET Framework 3.5

Then get the NDP35SP1-KB958484-x64 file from here: Download details: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for Windows Vista x64, and Windows Server 2008 x64

    Does it work now?

It only parses one or two fights and then stops, not sure whats the deal with that.

I`ve been having the same problems Falares. I too have Vista (34bit) and have followed all the suggestions on this page up until this part:

I download this, go through the setup, accept the Liscence Agreement, and when I hit install, it goes to a "Download and Install Progress" window. After that fully loads, it immediately goes to a "Setup Error" and my only option is "Exit". :/ Any suggestions?

Bumping this because I don't want to make a new topic...

Recently my Direct Parse has stopped working; changing the memloc did not get it to work. I tried Kparser (which is a superior parser anyways), but despite seemingly installing everything they wanted, it only parses for a few moments, then stops.

    I currently use Windows XP.

For those in a 64bit OS.

    See this post:
    forums.windower.net/topic/14514-how-to-make-fface-apps-work-on-x64/

A lot of application developers are compiling the program for AnyCPU and what's happening is on 64bit OSes it's looking for 64bit resources. The instructions in the link tell you how to set the application to 32bit which resolves the issues with a lot of the 3rd party applications running in 64bit OSes. I've used it on a few apps myself.
