Looking to re-start WoW

Tired of FFXI / Warhammer. FFXI has become pretty stale to me, and Warhammer makes me rage sometimes. lol

I'm thinking of starting up a Mage or a Rouge. Wondering if there is a pretty active guild accepts nubs? I like to have active guild chat so I have someone to talk to while I level up. I don't really care about Alliance/Horde. I'd rather go on a PVE server but PVP is fine as well.

My previous character was a lvl45 Undead Warlock on Echo Isles. I haven't played since Burning Crusade, so I don't have WOTLK but will probably get it once I hit 55 and can try out Death Knight as an alt or something.

I usually have playtime during the evenings on weekdays usually from 6pm CST onward. And on the weekends most of the days.

it's pretty exhaustive, but I would go through the blizz server forums and see what and how many guilds there are on servers. My server is, unfortunately, pretty dead and is hard to find a decent guild.

and DK is cool to do, if only for the opening quest line that is nice on the lore.

For mage, is Ice Spec still the most effecient for PVE level grinding and Fire/Arcane for group stuff?
