Hmmm... With Peggy leaving last week and now Lane offing himself this week, it really makes me think about all them negotiations between AMC and Matt Weiner. I think there was some plans for Matt to give two high salary people the axe from the show in order for him to get his big ass contract. I thought he refused, but it's looking like he only refused for one season.... I just hope Peggy returns to the agency or is at least still in the show.

They could do a lot with Peggy outside the agency and I hope they do. She can have success in an opposing firm, and maybe make partner or something. I'd be an interesting dynamic to see a head to head between Peggy and Don.

Was cringing when they were pulling the body down... fuck that was dark...

Really sad they had to oust him but I'm wondering how heavy this is going to weigh on Don's conscience, I have a feeling something really really bad is going to happen to him in the finale><. They'll most likely give Peggy scene time still, just because she switched agencies doesn't mean she's out of the show... at least I hope.

If things don't work out for Peggy at the other agency she can also go work at:

HAHAHAA! I'm not really sure why I found that part so damn funny, but holy shit me and my girlfriend were laughing so loud and had to rewind like 3 times! Best thing from this season.

Talk about an anti-climactic finale. Things moved forward, but... Not really. Not in an impactful, satisfying, almost cruel, way like in previous seasons.

Should've ended the season on the last episode. There was no way they could compete with Peggy and Lane.

I hope Don doesn't go with those women at the end. The Bond music was cool though.

Mad Men will finally return for its sixth season on April 7th, 2013! AMC made the announcement recently, also stating the the first episode will be a two hour movie premiere written by Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner and directed by Scott Hornbacher. The second episode of the season was directed by series star Jon Hamm.

I love watching this show, and I can't wait to see where the characters are headed. The last time we saw them, Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce was recovering from Lane Pryce’s suicide, Peggy Olson joined a rival agency, Roger Sterling was tripping out, and Draper was thinking about getting it on with two pretty young ladies.

When talking to the New York Times, Weiner had this to say about the next season,

It will advance in time, as it does… I can’t say how much or how little. We’re coming off a period in Don’s life where he’s trying to normalize, and trying to have this relationship – a real relationship with this woman that he fell in love with. She expressed her desires and that was a surprise for him. On this show, it’s a very rich, full orchestra, and we like to follow what is the next stage in these people’s lives.

I know there is huge spoilers in that article, but you've had 7 month's to catch up if any of that shocks you.

    It was okay, but
    Spoiler: show
I wish Don didn't keep fucking his life up re. affairs.

I spent half of the show trying to figure out who Sandy was and if I'd completely blanked her out from the previous season.

I liked everyones new hairstyles, certainly heading into the hippy era.

I had to check who Don was having the affair with as for some reason it didn't twig at first that she was the doctor's wife.

Betty actually seems nice now. Her daughter is being a bitch in comparison.

I thought the rape fantasy bedroom talk was a dream sequence at first. Betty's certainly not a prude now.

Could see Roger breaking down like that from a mile off.

I cannot agree with you any harder about Don. It's such a groan inducer. It makes you feel like he hasn't progressed enough in all this time. I did love that he came up empty in a big creative genius moment. I hated the Betty storyline, but only because I wanted to see more of her and Sally. I thought Roger was the MVP of episodes 1-2. John Slattery's acting was fantastic and he provided a great emotional anchor and plucky comic relief. Peggy Olson continues to be a badass.

All these sideburns! I was thrown off by Don's silence. I thought, is this the beginning of a new Don? But then you saw him fall back on the old crutches, booze and women.

can someone please explain the appeal of this show? the guys on PTI rave about it, so I bought the first 4 seasons after thanksgiving, and I could barely get through the first season. I can barely get through one episode without falling asleep.

I know it is an A&E show, but I was expecting a lot more sex, this to me is just a lot of guys sitting around smoking and drinking.

The appeal is a well written drama, with a conscious historical backdrop. Gonna go out on a limb and guess that it goes over the head of the average PTI viewer.

The show likes to make it seem that Don will never get out of his self-induced cycle of failure. Don's only clear-cut good trait is being a good ad man, and he seems to be losing that too. I think we're finally at the point where Don won't come back out on top this time around, too much has changed, he's getting old, etc. All the feels for Don
