    Final season started tonight*! Maybe it's been so long, but the chemistry definitely felt off at the start without Don there (like Ken ordering Joan around and the meeting with Peggy and Duck, Joan seeming very passive during the dinner). The parts with Don were better and the later parts felt more familiar too, but there were definitely a few that felt off.

    Also, I don't recall Pete going off to California..

    *Except that the second half won't be till the spring of 2015 cause AMC hates you.

    I thought Roger had a costume on when I first saw him with the 'stache.

    Also, anyone see this article? I find it pretty suspect that it breaks as the final leg of the show came back, especially considering the documents weren't sealed or hidden in any way.

    I can't help but feel there is absolutely no way the final episode is going to be a satisfying ending. There is just so much resolution that I want for all of these characters and I know it's impossible we're going to see it. I'm sorta getting LOST flashbacks.

    This last (half) season has just been weird and all over the place. At this point I feel Pete's, Joan's, and Betty's stories have been resolved, but only Pete's ending wasn't depressing and just awful..

    I'm surprised they spent all the screen time with Betty last episode. She's been more of a supporting character ever since her split from Don. They could have left it with the scene of Don leaving the house with the "Knock 'em dead, Birdie" line.

    I can't tell if the Coke commercial was a clever way to close out the show, or the fucking worst 4th wall breaking piece of shit of all time. I had the same thought about Don getting inspiration for the ad, and it was a show about an ad agency after all. On the other hand, the episode had a lot of interesting and profound dialogue, and the nice montage to wrap it all up. Then, out of nowhere, "HEY GAIZ! DRINK SOME COKE NOW!" It was such a jarring transition that totally took me out of the sense of closure that had been built up. My initial feeling, having just finished, is that it was pretty bogus.

    I agree that it was very jarring for such a quick cut to the commercial. The whole ending definitely should have been a 2 hour thing, It felt pretty rushed especially in the end with the montage.
    The last 15 minutes that came in after the last commercial break felt like they just tacked it on when they realized they ran out of time.
    The last scene with Don and Betty though. Demfeels.

    I turned to my wife when Pete and his family were boarding the plane and said "I bet it crashes on the way to Kansas" and she gave me the most horrified look ever.

    I like the idea that he was grinning because he thought of a great ad but I think he really was smiling because he got to escape from his previous life and start fresh again and therefore didn't learn shit.
