That was from earlier when I was missing some key ingredients in the 5 hit build, like subbing cobra cap for barbut/af+1 and putting store tp on wardecors instead of snapshot. That being said, do these enhancements really make a difference? I think so. If I can acheive a 5 hit build with /sam and only subbing a mekki for vulcans and cobra feet for scouts socks, then I may try this and decide for myself (which is what I should have said earlier, thread -5 posts lol).
And thanks Tsuki for all of your info, I have been playing rng since pre-nerf and I guess there are some things that you would think of until someone mentions it.
Edit: I still think /war > /sam, and come to think of it, /sam would be pushing out tons of ws anyway, but with lower numbers. I have always out weapon skilled /sams by at least 200-500 dmg.
np ^-^ I really hope you enjoy trying the lower hit one! let us know how you like it :D
Has anyone played around with STP+3 Gendawa?
I pulled off a 4 hit build with Mekki, brutal and rajas /SAM.

I'd like people's opinions on this if I could please. I'm torn between the augments of Agi+4/WS damage +2% and Racc+10/Rattk+5. Here are my gear sets if they help at all.
TP: - FFXIAH.com
WS: - FFXIAH.com
oh yes! I forgot about that, I'm still interested in peoples opinions on it as well! But I kind of feel bad about derailing on the OP :<
/WAR only beats /SAM when you can't fire WS at 100 TP.
Setting aside for the moment the HYOOGE difference in survivability between the two, /WAR will have ~15% more RATK (+25% for 3/5 min) but /SAM will fire 20% more WSes (I get 6 WS for every 5 of yours). Oh, and I get Meditate.
If I were inclined to make Anwig into a RNG WS hat, I'd pick STR/WSACC+AGI/WSDMG. Pot-au-feu makes the benefits of +RACC on a hat rather marginal.
However, I'm getting Haste/Snap+STP/Evasion. This will allow me to make a 5-hit /SAM O-bow build (and I won't even need Skadi pants).
If you don't have ZGB, I think Snap+STP is an extremely compelling option. I have ZGB and I'm still getting snap+STP (I'll just use ZGB for gun builds, where I don't need STP on hat).
Same here. I normally would feel bad derailing like this but I asked this question in What's Better II and Randomest Question thread whatever and didn't get an answer. I figure this way I could get a little help with an answer (and learn about things I usually payed no attention to before like 5 Hit sets and such).

You know, I keep hearing about Pot-Au-Feu (and bought three stacks but I have yet to try it out) and I hear it's such an amazing food. Are the Racc and Rattk values still technically unknown? Is it basically the Ranged Attackers Pizza?
Thanks everyone on the wonderful help!
/WAR gives 10 RATK (let's ignore that) and Berserk. On EMs, Berserk is +25% damage unless capping pDIF. The higher the level of the mob, the more Berserk adds. Typically, Berserk adds more than 30% damage, or 20%ish damage total (averaged out).
A RNG's TP/WS ratio is a little bit of an unknown to me, admittedly. However, 6-hit can be achieved /WAR, and 5-hit /SAM. /SAM therefore gives a 25% increase in WS frequency (5 shots to 4 shots, WS is instant-ish). Now, multiply this with WS/TP ratio to get total damage added by subbing /SAM (leaving alone Meditate for a bit). This has to be 80% to match Berserk, and honestly I don't think it is that high, despite Sidewinder being a purty good WS.
Meditate adds less the faster you shoot and the +% damage wildly varies. However, it's actually fairly small.
Keep in mind RNG's WS/TP ratio is parsable, but not using the parser's ratio. You're going to have to do some math. Parser also lists the amount of missed WSs. Multiply average WS damage times the # of WSs you actually landed, and divide that by the total amount of WSs you did. Compare that number to the /ra damage you did.
Since Dynamis is something where a player needs to be ready for anything that might happen. Would people suggest /sam? Reason I ask is cause I see myself dieing alot /war in Dynamis.
Ok so this thread has made me see the light. There is an efficient way to play rng, and a not so efficient way to play rng. I am going to repost my equip goals and I want to hear what you think, especially from Dan and Tsuki. Now remember I am not a gun/xbow rng, archery only.
Merits TP - FFXIGEAR.com

Body is Wardecors with Snapshot/Store tp+subtle blow
Merits WS - FFXIGEAR.com

Merits will always be /sam (probably) and events will depend on which event and what type of mobs.
What do you think? I was able to get 5-hit without losing my Vulcan's or having to get those cobra leggings.
Edit: to OP, I went /war always to dynamis, and I died. A ton. /sam would be better because of survivability with third eye and seigan.
After playing RNG main for a little less than a year at endgame events, even with top of the line gear (Vbow/Xbow, osode, vulcans, crimson/seiryu gloves, relic legs/feet, etc) it gets a little old spending gil on arrows/bolts to be out damaged by people that aren't throwing gil away every attack.
QQing aside, taking the time to get a Barbut is a great investment if you really like RNG.
Back!
Well after doing the Augment stuff, I have got two behemoth rings with the following.
Behe Ring: Agi+2 Dex-1 Vit-1
Behe Ring: Str+3
Now my question is should I WS in ether one of these? Seeing how they provide stats that increase my WS damage and have Range ACC in them?
Once again thanks for all the previous info!
Leave on the Str+3 one and use rajas on the other
If I had everything available for RNG this is what I would TP in:
FFXIGEAR.com
6-hit Vali bow with /SAM, obviously change the Novia and Bucaneer's to relic belt if you don't need the -enmity and the body being RAcc+10 and +5% shot.
That would be 5-hit, you only need +13 STP for 6-hit. I'd suggest Amemet Mantle +1 over the Jaeger Mantle though, possibly swap in Jaeger for Barrage.
I mean 5-hit yeah and the mantle I'm really not sure on but 20 Racc is a lot so.
