Movie was good, but not great. I can't quit put my finger on what parts I didn't like... The twist at the end was good but after 30m into the film I knew the direction the case was going and how it was going to end, which kinda bored me. It needed a few more "surprising" twists and plot twists and it would have been better.

    Spoiler: show
In other words, with the technology we have this day and age, you know how all the magical deaths and tricks are possible, and can somewhat predict the end. The only part of the story that took me by surprise was his relation with Rachel McAdams Character since it was motive driven instead of science driven.

I really don't understand people and "predictable" shit.

Stop overthinking during movies, you're obviously setting yourself up to disappoint yourself.

    So quit it.

    This.

Saw it and I liked it. Yeah some stuff is predictable, but when was the last time you were honestly surprised in a movie?

Every time I see the commercial I wish that they had gotten Hugh Laurie to play sherlock holmes.

Whats wrong with wanting movie writers to actually put some effort into writing an original story rather than grabing an old story and just putting in new charcters? Reminds me of how alot of cartoons are the same stories with just slight changes to them.

That's fine, but stop trying to figure out the fucking ending before it happens and guess what? You won't be a sourpuss who gets disappointed every time a new movie doesn't "revolutionize" the industry.

I've always thought the best thing about a Mystery film is solving the case as the Detective or main protagonist on screen does, making it tough to solve for the audience should be part of the script as well as entertainment value.

You shouldn't have to stupefy yourself to enjoy a Mystery movie without spoiling it, it should be enjoyable and keep the audience guessing...

but then again i look more at Sherlock Holmes as it was in the novels, a Mystery thats always got a twist ending, and is tough to solve!

they should expect a group of Sherlock holmes fans to try and solve the Mystery, and for that make the movie difficult to solve, so even if some people don't try to solve it they'll still get an enjoyable movie, and those who do try to solve it will be kept guessing!

Saw it today, I didn't get the feeling that Holmes and Watson were fags. However, the movie was boring as hell and I fell asleep and missed an entire scene. Didn't wake up until my head hit my girl's shoulder. :\ It was meh.

My reaction to the movie was similar, I felt it was a very House/Wilson relationship.

Seriously? It's a mystery movie, the entire point of Sherlock Holmes is trying to figure out the ending. If I already figured it out 30% into the movie then it didn't do a good job of unraveling it.

Without wanting to read many spoilers, is it a new Holmes story or an adaptation from one of Doyle's novels/short stories? I'm guessing it isn't Doyle with the comments in this thread, but thought I'd ask anyway.

I don't think it was made easy to solve, the voodoo angle was good misdirection. I wish the story arc would have been characters doubting logic in the place of magic. I wish it made viewers feel "What if it was magic?" But I feel that through the course of events, it never felt like that.

It just dragged on and on, and the dialogue was boring or mumbled most of the time.

I really didn't like it, but the other people with me liked it a lot. Go easy on me Kyo.

I don't believe it was a Doyle story, I found the movie to be rather entertaining. All the performances were pretty solid apart from Rachel McAdams, I thought they could have found someone a little better for that part.
