    Recommend me a LCD TV.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a LCD TV.

    Looking for the following specs:
    32 inch
    Picture-in-Picture (not necessary)
    1080P
Would like to use as a PC monitor.

Also would 32 inch be too large to use as a monitor for lets say at normal desk range. (2-3 feet)

Having it cost ~600 or less is a plus.

Edit: I will be using it primarily to watch TV/play PS3, however I would like to be able to use as a PC monitor while I am not.

    Sharp Aquos 32" LCD

Ive used one for quite some time as a gaming pc monitor. It does quite nicely, but text isnt so great. It's above my regular monitors and 2 feet farther back, so at a range of 4-5 feet, its great.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, it's been awhile since I've even looked at hdtvs since I bought mine 2 years ago, but isn't 1080p compared to 720p unnoticeable in TVs smaller than 40 inches?

Might save some money that way.

Reasoning for 1080p on 32 inch is to have more screen real estate when I use it as my PC monitor.

and definitely don't get 720p tv as a monitor, the resolution limitation simply looks horrible in such a large screen.

Samsungs are always good, they make very good quality panels and have decent warranties. I have an older 32" samsung which has served me very well, no complaints at all!

Id suggest anything from Vizio as well, great product for a lesser price.

Samsung's are pretty much the best quality LCDs, but they are quite pricey. Vizio's are of unmistakably lesser quality, but they are a lot less expensive.

I've narrowed it down to the following three. I'm leaning towards #1 on the list due to the "features" and it supposedly has PIP from what I read on another site but I am not 100% sure it does. In either case, PIP isn't that important on the list.

Considering this would be my first LCD TV, I know pretty much nothing when it comes to what specs are good or bad.

Samsung has a similar one but it costs about $100 more, no clue if it is worth the extra cost.

    $699.99 - Samsung LN32B550 - 32'' Widescreen 1080p LCD HDTV - 70,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio - 6ms Response Time - LN32B550K1FXZA - Buy.com

I'd still recommend 2 20" tv's for the same price of one of your 32" tv's tbh.... 20" is more than enough at the distance you are from your monitor. (plus every video card these days has 2 ports for 2 monitors....)

Don't forget the old adage "you get what you pay for"

I would go with a samsung

    or if you want a 40" Butterfly Photo - Samsung LN40B550 40" 1080p LCD HDTV LN40B550K1FXZA

I would also be using it for my PS3 and watching TV, so using dual monitors really isn't such a great choice for me.

I apologize, I should have been clearer in my original post.

When watching TV/playing PS3 I would be lying on my bed, which is ~ 10feet away from my desk. At the same time, when I am not watching TV/playing with my PS3, I would like to use it as a PC monitor.

I'd agree with Ruiner's recommendation as well as well as his words on Samsungs. After shopping around and researching for about a week I was constantly coming back to the Samsungs for both the best performance as well as priced well, even compared to some of the Vizios. If you can get an Amazon Gold Box deal, then you'd be in an ideal position to purchase for sure.

Also, for those speaking on distance::size ratios, here are some links worth checking to see how they relate to one another.

Essentially, as the screen size grows, the optimum distance for seating grows, but between 1080P and 720P, you need to sit closer to notice the literal detail between the two. If you're using it as a computer monitor in any case, you're probably more than close enough. lol

I have the Sony 32 LCD and it has pip and even tho it is advertised as 720p it came set at 1080p also which has a difference in space on my ps3s browser. Just a suggestion.

This. I've had mine since they first came out a number of years ago, and I love it. Now they're cheaper and better.

Just saw this deal recently and was looking for a relevant place to post this deal. Looks pretty amaaaazing, but the "get what you pay for" always looms in my mind on deals like this. lol

I just want to throw in my 2 cents and say in agreement with everyone that samsung tv's are great. Also don't get a "computer monitor" that happens to work as a tv they usually are not that great, get a TV that happens to have inputs for a computer monitor they work better, Yes there is a difference.
