Ok so, title is very awkward, I apologize :/ Also wasn't sure if I should throw this in book recommendation thread lower down or not, but this is kinda a specialized question.
Basically, I have two younger sisters (12 years old) that often get roped into coming along with the fam for trips they don't really like.. notably, we have a sailboat on lake michigan that we take out almost every weekend, and in August we're going to be taking it out for a week solid. Its awesome fun for the adults, but for them, not so much... But, they both love reading, and I want to try avoid buying books that are cheap knock-offs of other major series, suck, etc.
Basically, they love what all girls their age love, they've read all the Harry Potters, twilights, etc.. looking for something similar (they seem to be into the fantasy genre) but, as stated, I'm leery about just going to a store and buying the 'wrong' stuff. Anyone into the same sort of thing that might have some suggestions? My mom's a bit nervous about 'getting them into the dark stuff' so she's trying to steer them away from the vampire things, or anything super-dark... also keep in mind they're twelve, so some things i'd rather them not read about :/
Any suggestions?
