If you'd like to eventually see a Shadow Ring, convince Dynamis Lord to drop more than two a year. The lack thereof certainly hasn't been for lack of us trying.

Not like it matters, I've lived w/o it and will continue to live w/o it. Just reserving the right to /poke fun at things that probably should have been changed years ago.

Regardless, Im pretty happy with all the MDB pieces SE has been adding. Being able to reduce magic damage by 80-90%+ is rediculously powerful when used right.

That's why I said situational. On JoL for instance I don't feel like switching enmity gear for every single cast because mainly I'm casting non-stop, so I wear a mix.

You aren't telling me anything new, I have been playing pld for 5 years.

Anyway, the combination is sick.

I don't understand the point you are trying to make. All gear swaps should already be in your macros (provided you have situational sets already made for /war, /rdm) so it's not anymore effort on your part to be doing your job better. If you just stand there and cast from the menu, then I'm sorry you've been playing pld for 5 years and don't know this.

my shadow ring sucked balls. i didnt get 1/10 the proc ppl claimed. i have a SS of it proc'ing when i was on DRK on ultima from CB. i SS'd it and held it as a trophy because i knew damn well i wasnt gonna get lucky again lol (not like i couldn't survive it anyway. CB is a joke, but still). The only time i did use it a lot was on darksdays tho. the added MDB was nice to have on an idle set.

but looking back, even when we had no one to give it out too from capping the main tanks, i wouldve passed to to a lvl 20 pld or something lol. or trade it in for a lapdance from my neo

I honestly always thought that MDB2 granted a total bonus of +2 over MDB1, but I have never tested it.

If this were true, 70WHM would have MDB4 for a total of +52 MDB from traits... They don't stack.

So basically:

-50% magic damage taken (Aegis pld).
17 MDB from set.
4 MDB from lamia mantle +1.
2 MDB from lamian kamen +1.
2 MDB Unfettered ring.
3 MDB Volunteer's ring.
5 MDB from barspell enhances from blessed briault.
2 MDB from resolute belt.

+10 MDB from barspell merits if your whm is smart..
+10 from rdm sub, +22 from whm sub..

Thats 50 MDT, 30 MDB with just gear and shell5... 45 MDB with merited whm, 55 MDB with /rdm and merited whm support, and SIXTY FUCKING SEVEN MDB with full gear, merited whm, and blessed briault.

Im now immune to magic damage..

You forgot something. Fully merited WHM with blessed briault is not 15 MDB (if they're smart).

5/5 Barspell = 10 MDB
Blessed Briault = 5 MDB
Barspell cast under the effect of Afflatus: Solace = 5 MDB

WHM can now give max of 20 MDB instead of the old max of 15 MDB

That's interesting because I see very good results with mine. It's the mantle that I only use during Darksdays for Rampart. Mantle proc rate is ridiculously low.

How is it 80%/90% (the set you posted)? It had 60ish MDB? 50% PDT is cutting magic by half. Were you to have 100 MDB you'd cut it by half once more (on a mob w/o MAB) and you'd take 25% (cut of 75%). Am I missing something crucial? I probably am because it's late and I'm updating, but I'm curious nevertheless.

my mantle was the shit, i never relied on it, but it sure as hell made me look good on some fights. i was lucky with that thing.

isnt it ironic though? as a nin, i dont get hit nearly as often as a pld from physical attacks. i would need the ring to help me more than the mantle would for the instant aoes, etc. but nooooooooo, i had the fuckin' dollar store shadow ring

My point is that on JoL I prefer to wear a mix of MDT and enmity because I'm casting non-stop and don't want to be full time on full enmity gear for that reason.

Probably best just to give yourself an extra 2 seconds of not casting (while his ga spell goes off) and get hit in your full MDB set, and then cast in full emnity/haste.

You'll lose less emnity from the less damage taken and maintain more emnity/hastes in your casts.

But I do know what you mean by "being in a perpetual motion of casting" on JoL when /rdm.

Yeah, maybe but meh, I cap mdt% and SS... JoL nukes barely break my SS, not a big deal.

Its just a personal preference for that fight, not saying its best but works for me.

Its pretty nice, interesting that they jumped the resist from being just +20 for all round resist to giving a bonus 10 for having equipped full set, aka 30 res.

been playing with builds and it works surprisingly well FFXIGEAR.com ffxigear doesn't show the Set bonus at all yet apparently but this will get you to 131 Fire resist when you add IR set, and all of it is relatively easy to get aside form cerb bow and maybe mantle
