So I had to move out of my apartment the week of the update, which was awesome. Finally catching back up now, and I got this from the Cardian fight:
http://userpages.umbc.edu/~rshaw1/ffxi/slacks.png
So good for its level, it almost makes me wish I hadn't leveled BLM yet. I'll probably be soloing SCH (43) some, and they should be useful for some spells on RDM (52) too (though I guess I'll still want to have Magic Cuisses anyway for the MND).
I haven't seen this said anywhere (I was looking for this information yesterday), so I figured i'll try it out and see for myself. It's about the "Attack+3 Pet: Adds "Regen" effect" augment on the head piece.
Once you choose this, in your final item you will actualy see a different wording. It will say "Regen +1". As if that wasn't enough warning, I figured i'd go test it, because really, SE wouldn't be crazy enough to just give 1 HP/tick Regen to an augment, right? Well, they were.
The pet regen effect is 1 HP/Tick .
In other words, /toss.
This was tested with /pup, lv1. You can see the HP go up as it regens, it never changes from 1 HP.
I also tested with bst75 using natural pets but the regen was all over the place. I attribute this to the natural regen pets have when on heel (not stay).
Finaly, tested again with /smn37 on an almost dead fenrir. It recovered around 1.x% every 4 ticks (comparing ticks with MP ticks just visualy), which equates to about 4-5HP. Fenrir at that level should have around 400 HP.
The regen did not seem to grow with time at all, it was fixed.
If anyone's curious, i chose damage taken-10% and pet regen to make a pet defense piece. The regen is honestly not worth at all.
Strange things happened during our fight yesterday.
We went in as SAM SAM BLM BLM RDM WHM and won the fight in 23 minutes, no deaths.
However, what was odd is that every time I (as BLM) triggered Crystalline Flare, the other BLM and WHM were pulled in, despite being alllllll the way up the stairs from the fight, well out of range. For future fights, is there any other way to prevent this?
Also, quite interestedly, at the final phase of the battle, I nuked him down under 50% to trigger the henchman and the zerg. However, right after I used the spell and got him to 45%ish, I stunned, and he immediately summoned the moogles. No flare. The other blm slept the adds and we finished off the evil moogle before they woke up. My question here is: has anyone else avoided the final flare at 50% or was it just a fluke for us?
Went 1/4 on this, third try he was on 1% ; ; In the end won with WHM (me) SMN SAM DRK BLM BLM. Using the BLM to nuke the mog and rest to kill the little guys. Zerg'd him at the end.
Has anyone use the new hat for PLD?
+5 Shield Skill
+6VIT
+2% Haste
Considering most PLD use the M.Head for Utu: Ichi. Combining this with Haste would be nice.
Honestly if 2% haste on your ichis is going to help you somehow, something's wrong.
If you aren't at least ending the cast in 5% haste, you are definitely doing it wrong. Opening with FC+5 and ending with 5% haste would be optimal, but at the very least make sure the cast ends in 5% haste. Making the recasts low enough so you don't have to even depend on your shield at all is the optimum situation.
I can see using some haste situationally on fights where you're going ichi to ichi and saving ni for emergencies, but if you're casting ichi more than once every 16.5 seconds and therefore 5% haste (let alone the .6 seconds 2% constitutes) is going to matter, something's wrong. You should have a co-tank, or your flash isn't being used properly, or something.
Bingo. I usually try to stack as much haste as humanly possible and do exactly what you described above. Sometimes just a few percent haste makes Ichi --> Ichi tanking possible instead of insanely difficult. Ideally you still have your Ni for TP moves, and emergency situations.
Yeah I'm a nin, I can't get away with that on most stuff >< lol
See, my biggest issue became the question of after unlocking Atonement, was I gaining more hate with the 'Ichi Spam' than I was losing because I was swinging less (and therefore less WS)? I never really got a good answer, but if i can take it easy and Ichi tank, I really don't care at that point.
So here's what I finally did, worked pretty damn well.
2x drk/sam, 2x blm, rdm/whm, 6th could be anything, we had an undergeared mnk, which was kinda nice for the hundred fists at the end
the blms deal with the boss, taking proper precautions for the first 2, with melee up on the stairs
first part is pretty self explanitory, sleep and kill adds blah blah
The main thing we figured out was that after the 75% draw in on the 2nd phase, there's no more threat of drawing in. This means the DRK's can start draining, and help wiht stuns. So we had a drk ready to stun immediately after the draw in on 2nd phase, made it super easy. Can also have a nice drain2/dread spikes set right when the adds spawn.
Also, henchman moogles spawn with a ton of tp, so absorbing right before you wake one works extremely well.
For the final stage just always have a drk ready to stun, someone stun boss when adds pop so it doesn't aoe whole group as you're getting in position, be fast with sleeps, then zerg down boss. With 4 stuns + 2 weapon bash, he'll easily be stunlocked to death.
I got ws hat for war and drk, and from angelskin I got a cape with ele skill+2, hmp+1, interruption rate -1%.
Sorry if this has been mentioned already as I haven't read every page for this thread.
If you kill all the Henchmen moogles and get *all* the way against the door before Riko is 100% and coming back down he wont reaggro. It's a good chance to full rest before each phase. This trick combined with using the stairs makes the fight very easy.
He'll continue to do flare, but he won't draw in. We stunned right as he spawned moogles in 3rd phase to make sure the sleep got off in order to avoid that.
This is the worst bullshit expansion ever. ACP was much less annoying. Glad to see they took our feedback and made it even worse. SE can kiss my fuckin ass. I'm not buying the next expansion. Go get this...go talk to a npc...now go get this from 3 diff zones...talk to a npc...now go get this from 3 diff. zones again...now play dry annoying minigames...now do a fight but if you lose you gotta farm again....over and over and over. I want a refund.
I agree. Although I'm sure I'll end up buying the 3rd piece of gear, too.
But, yeah, when the highlight of an expansions is "oh... uh... hullo thar," something's rather massively wrong.
Funny how people make the joking comment about killing XI off for XIV-- Kupo expansion convinced me to say fuck XIV unless I get into the beta and find it to be absolutely amazing.
