That's not exactly how it works, though. Starlight medal just means that if you "earn" 5520+ exp in that hour, then if the battle ends in 60min you'll get 5520, as opposed to a Copper Emblem holder who could earn at most 4560, or a Bronze Ribbon person who could earn only 3600.
But not every job can "earn" 5520 worth of exp in an hour without refreshing tags, and you don't want to refresh tags now if you care about union rewards. So really the answer is "come on a job that can tank damage and deal damage and cure" (PLD/whatever, BLU/whatever, RDM/whatever, Whatever/DNC). That way if you do get a really long battle you'll make 5kish instead of 2~3k.
Also worth pointing out, assuming that guy did have Starlight Medal, his battle lasted 58 minutes, and he actually earned 5465/2734, but would have needed the battle to go on 2 more minutes in order to get it all.
I was simply pointing out the exp/min cap and what can be earned in one hour without refreshing tags. I am not saying that you can earn that much by not doing anything and you automatically get that amount. You have to work for it. We are talking about the same exact thing. Lower medals have a lower exp/min cap thus a lower overall exp total at the end of campaign. The player still needs to do actions that build up exp points. You could sit there and and do 5000 points/exp worth during the campaign, but if it ends after 20 minutes, your exp count goes from 5000 -> 1840 for starlight which is 92 exp/min. The person asked how his exp was so high and I answered with an explination that it is possible due to current caps. It is up to the player to use job combinations that help get enough points to hit that cap. DNC or /DNC can do this easily.
In this thread alone, there are two separate pic/SS or 100 byne bills and another pic of an M. Silver. There were also several claims of a 100 piece in a loot pool without screenshots. I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that these are indeed (extremely rare) drops from Union battles.
yea thats makes more sense. I will scout to see if the 100 peice is true though. What zone was that even in? I know it will be 1% drop rate if it does exists but I wanna go hunt for it. Maybe imperial ingots are hiding in there somewhere.
EDIT

We posted at the same time. Well thanks for the info. Thats pretty neat that they drop in there though. Especially being that campaign battle is one of the few things you can do in this game without a wait time that can drop cool bcnm/dynamis items is pretty neat.
Probably dropped from xarcabard... holy hell that place is brutal.
No you're right. I didn't mean to come off as trying to contradict what you said. I was more trying to elaborate that there's two equally important components to better campaign exp. Higher rank is going to help you get higher exp in short fights where everyone caps exp, while different campaign styles/actions/job setups will get you better exp in the long campaigns with multiple waves where nobody gets time-capped (assuming that you are unwilling to refresh tags due to union rewards).
And it wasn't really addressed at you because I figure you knew this all, too, it was more to the person you were replying to or anyone else who was wondering the same thing.
So far to me, it seems certain Beastmen Units drop certain treasure, so it may be only certain Beastmen Units drop 100 pieces. So, at the very least, we can surmise that both zone and monsters killed change your union drops

Yup. For real.
E. Ron, San D'oria in control.
I was there for 2 waves, Shadowfang and Conqueror Bakgodek. 1460 exp, 846 AN.
^ Can confirm i was there and had crappy lot >.>
Why do I get the feeling that Campaign has become even more favorable to San d'Oria?
fixed. heavy quad chestplates are worth significantly more than currency at 20k a pop and bynes still drop there too, as do peistie hides/leather. this will get real interesting when the cgf bring armies of 25 people to a campaign to spam cures and generate 100's. fun times ahead!
Just finished an East Ronfaure[S] campaign and Bagodek was there. My union killed and no 100, got a gold orc mask instead! Don't recall how many people were in the union though, but it was the bigger one of the battle.
Id say the opposite since these latest Campaign adjustments have given people incentive to join other nations Campaigns in search of union rewards. Before this patch you'd have alot of people who would only campaign for their nation putting Bastok at a natural disadvantage and now you have people going to any campaign possible which helps Bastok/Windy in the sticky spots that were Pashhow (S) and Garliage Citadel (S).
Lakshmi has every area on the map currently being lead by the allied forces, something that just a week ago would have been quite different for Bastok.
No accompanying pic, but, it's not noteworthy enough to merit one, Got Absorb-Acc scroll when Shadowfang attacked Grauberg. I specifically got the kill off him. Was in Dhole union.
