Just had two campaign battles in a row, the first one ending and the second one s tarting almost immediately (they were separated by the battle finishing and starting messages).
I got new tags for the second and went to union registration thinking that I was expelled from my original union by getting new tags, but when I joined a union again I was told that my lot to the union spoils had been revoked. Went on to battle like normal.
After if was finished though, 10 chests appeared and the message saying "You earned a claim to x union's spoils" appeared for each union twice. Anyone else have this happen to them?
The hell? Are you sure 10 chests actually appeared or just 10 messages? Or were they literally on top of each other?
Well... every campaign area does have multiples of up to 3 of each ABCDE coffer in the zone data. I've never seen it happen but maybe it's possible.
No, it was 10 chests. I would have SS'd it but my computer is in the process of dying so I don't have windower on this one. The message appeared twice for each union, and there were ten chests. I'm not sure if had you stayed in the same union if you could have opened the chest for both battles, because mine was forfeit when I changed unions.
Edit: This is a very crude portrayal of how they appeared. There was the first row where they normally are, then another row right by it.

I use a second character for curing/raising me and I always sign her up for a separate union than the one my main joined. So here is what I've found:
1.) Kill-shots have nothing to do with union drops. Nada. She has been the only one in a union(usually Coyote or Dhole) and still gets multiple drops.
2.) Lotting is pure random. I won a Molybdenum ingot on her in Beauc last night with a 984 lot while she only got ~800 exp from curing me. The same battle I got 4295 exp on Baelorn and didn't win a damn thing from his union. Later she also won a Jacaranda log over people who did a lot more in the fight.
i saw 10 box before as well
but cant seem to open the duplicated ones
just a glitch i think
Kill-shot comment was in response to this and no, I have not seen any evidence that kill-shot matters. All this is is more bullshit "let the thf get the kill-shot" superstition. I was just posting my experience with two chars in separate unions to help dispel some of these rumors.
I can attest to this, I was in a Union by myself got about 4150 Exp, Killshotted 4 Mobs, including the "NM" (which was the MNK/SMN Yagudo <.<) and ended up with only 2 Items, Can't remember what they were but it was in Garlaige Citadel, probably just the zone specific junk ... Nothing like a MNK Weapon or anything
The fact that your 2-boxed char won something and you didn't doesn't mean that lotting is purely random, it just means that performance isn't the sole determining factor of who wins lots. There's obviously still some randomness to it, everybody doesn't lot the same number on every item. What we're interested in is whether performance gives some sort of bonus. For example, maybe if you get over 1000 xp, it's impossible to lot below 100, or something like that. I haven't yet seen any sort of data for determining if that's true or not. And even if it were true, depending how it was implemented it might be extremely difficult to figure out the workings of anyway.
For example, imagine a system like this:
Each character has two lotting-related numbers. "Re-roll Chance" and "Re-roll Threshold". If you receive at least 1000 xp, your Chance is set to 50%, and your Threshold to 100. When you lot, any lot below 100 has a 50% chance of being (invisibly) re-rolled by the game. For every 1000 xp beyond this, your Chance increases by 10% and your Threshold by 100. So for 3000 xp, you would have 70% chance of re-rolling any lot less than a 300.
Could the system work like this? Sure. Would we ever be able to figure out if it actually works that way? Probably not.
I know your numbers are hypothetical, but I got 1190 exp from a battle and rolled a 4 on a darksteel ingot.
Deimos's completely hypothetical system still works. His suggested system offers only a chance for a reroll, not a guarantee. In this case you rolled a 4 and then failed your 50% shot to get a reroll.
(In his hypothetical system, it's also possible that you rolled a 1 and then rerolled and got a 4, lol)
Kill shots do and don't matter.
Your union gets a kill: +1 item to the end coffer (based on mob killed)
Bob and Steve are in Dhole Union
Steve gets 5 kills
Bob gets 1 kill
End coffer result: 7 items (6 from their kills, 1 default)
Bob and Steve each lot for 7 items, even though bob only got 1 killshot.
If no one in Dhole union got a single kill, there would only be the zone item.
This is all based on observation
Edit: Lots are a crapshoot.
Looks like another instance of 10 coffers spawning. One just ended and another started. I just got new tags and didn't touch the union option at all. Will let you know what happens.
Ok, after this two-part battle, only one set of coffers remained. Someone had managed to open one of the coffers from the first batch before the second battle started, i don't know if this affected it or not. After the second battle, only the coffers spawned for that one as far as I can tell. The adder union coffer was opened, and that was the union I joined in the first fight, but I got no treasure.
This second time was in Sauromuge Champaign, the first where 10 chests appeared was Jugner Forest.
