En-spells help with damage too, and Dispel can help with survivability, adding a little extra to my initial atonement, and debuff exp I guess. The downside is that without any outside healing, I do need to rest for MP after 2-4 campaign mobs.

    I can imagine this being a bigger drawback for non-tarus - I idle at 701 MP (would be 781 if I had merited MP instead of HP).
    You can spam Atonement /Dnc too, Aspir Samba let's you keep MP up for cures, Waltzes are only needed if you want to get your MP back up, and honestly, Drain Samba II keeps me alive if I'm only fighting one mob from almost any squad... except /Dnc let's me silena/erase myself.

    Seems no one really knows if terror=petrify then...

    In that case, can anyone think of a good way to test whether or not it truly is? I heard something before about ranged attacks or something doing x dmg, so mayhaps I could find a ranger QQ and have it ranged attack me while terrored while wearing sand mantle and see if it drops by 20%?

    Assuming gil is no issue and you can get Askar head:
    FFXIGEAR.com

    Realistically? Buy Zahak's Mail, use Claymore Grip and equip STR/Attack/Accuracy elsewhere because DRG can't get a high dDEX like WAR can, Greater Colibri and weaker are only where you can really cap dDEX on DRG.

    It adds 10% per +1, and yes to all of them.

    Terror and petrify are different status effects. No, sand mantle will not reduce damage while terrorized.

    May I ask how you know this? there are several people on otherwiki stating the opposite so I'd like some form of confirmation.

    Just back from the game after a 7 month break that was supposed to be a quit. Have basically no gil (~500k on hand), and the crafting market is shit so making money is tough even with 2 100 crafts.

    I'm gearing up my RNG on the cheap. Here is what I came up with for TP (currently lvl 52), and I assume /NIN for exp if I'm pulling.

    http://=http://www.ffxiah.com/item_s...6]- FFXIAH.com

    Although I know BG doesnt like to click links... so here, TP setup and what I plan to use in the immediate future (up to ~60):

    input /equip hands "Custom M Gloves"; [Deadeye @ 60]
    input /equip body "Noct Doublet +1"; [Jaridah @ 55, AF @ 58]
    input /equip ear1 "Drone Earring";
    input /equip ear2 "Vision Earring";
    input /equip ranged "War Bow +1"; [Selene's @ 60]
    input /equip neck "Ranger's Necklace";
    input /equip ammo "Scorpion Arrow";
    input /equip main "Hawker's Knife"; [Also have Fire Staff]
    input /equip sub "Hawker's Knife";
    input /equip head "Empress Hairpin"; [AF @ 54]
    input /equip ring1 "Carapace Ring +1"; [Jalzahn Ring if I can ever finish ToAU, Scorp +1 x2 if I can't]
    input /equip ring2 "Carapace Ring +1";
    input /equip feet "Leaping Boots"; [AF @ 60]
    input /equip legs "Noct Brais +1"; [Jaridah/Akinji @ 55]
    input /equip back "Thunderer Mantle"; [Amemet +1 @ 60]
    input /equip waist "Vanguard Belt"; [Precise Belt @ 60]

    Suggestions? Upgrades that I missed? I'm planning on using Squid Sushi, but no idea what I should really be eating. Also, I assume that once I start using Sidewinder, I'll want to just keep on as much RAcc as possible and not screw with Mods too much.

    There's a status effect called "Terrorized" and a status effected called "Petrification". What is there to not understand about this? Feel free to test if Sand Mantle has any effect on terror, I'm not stopping you.

    If the moogle hat has 4DEX, you're still 4DEX short of the Critical Hit cap for DEX, but considering that you're just going for AH items (And tbh, if you're getting a Cuchulain, buying a Zahak WOULD put you at the DEX Cap), this seems like your best bet. I haven't looked into a AH STR set, but it seems you would be missing a lot of ACC (Assuming you get the WSACC+15 on Helm and have full merits, this barely gets you to cap for birds).

    By know I mean you have actually experienced something that directly disproves/proves the concept, not just speculating that the person is wrong based on the idea that they're different statuses.

    The reason the people are saying this is they are finding resist petrify gear is granting them a strong resistance to terror as well, thus the theory. Thus me asking. I know they are different status effects, I do not need to be told this, I am looking for someone who can say 100% for sure that this is either right or wrong.

    Clearly you have not proven/disproven this so I shall find a way to test it myself.

    Have him hit you with his sword?

    First off I'm testing with another dnc friend of mine vs hyppogriphs in grauberg since their terror, jettura as stated, is cone gaze so makes it easy to test. I am going to first get the average length of the terror then equip +2 resist petra in gear and eat boiled cockatrice and see how the length is effected.

    If in fact this is true, I should see a dramatic drop in length of terror and even the occasional resist.

    Honestly, I have about the same gear level as you and I have no problem hitting most of my sidewinders, try using a Pot-au-feu if you're overcamping (level 54 on lesser colibris, level 60 on colibri), otherwise I've been fine using Coeurl Subs, they really help your damage.

    If you've been syncing on past camps for Colibri then I do suggest squid sushi till you get skill capped again, but you shouldn't need unless you're overcamping.

    If you have a brd or cor in party they should be hitting you with prelude and/or hunter's roll, if they are just use coeurl subs, your acc will be fine.

    That's an abysmal test. Get the fucking sand mantle if you want to prove it.. 20 swings petraed and 20 not and average the damage from both samples, 20% is a big enough difference to be noticable even on a tiny sample size. ~12 Resist Petrify will not show a drop in the length, it'll simply increase the amount of half/full resists.. and not by enough to prove shit eyeballing.

    No need to be insulting, I am helping him farm feathers and noticed they do terror so decided why the hell not, lets test it.

    I have some resist petri gear on hand from macroing in for dynamis bastok on beastmasters.

    The attitude is not appreciated, I will get the sand mantle on my own time, but I may as well do some starting tests while doing something already. It doesn't take much effort to swap in some resist petri gear and look for any noticeable differences.

    There aren't any noticable differences on petrify itself with a few pieces of gear, why the hell would there be for terror? It's an awful test, and if you're macroing as it goes off instead of fulltiming you have to account for whether the gear actually switched or not too.

    Well first off, where did I say I was macroing it as the move goes off?

    Now onto my really basic results. This really doesnt prove/disprove anything but gives 1 point for the doesnt work side of the argument.

    Without any resist gear, both of us taru dnc/nin wearing similar gear noted that when terror wore for us, it wore at the exact same time. After about 10 or so of these we were pretty certain we got the same length of terrors.

    I then swapped on some resist petrify and ate the food. After another good 5-6 terrors we were still getting the exact same wear times, so if anything I have proven that resist petrify does NOT lower the timer for terror, which wiki says it does.

    Now to farm the mantle =/

    Resist [Anything] has NEVER lowered durations. It increases chance of resist, which cuts duration to 50% or 25%. If you wanted to prove a difference using the resist method, you would need to parse ~1000 Jettaturas and compare the #/resists with and without resist gear. You would also need to keep all stats that may be relevant(mnd chr int) constant across players involved in the test, and make sure they were hit by the same terror to take out mob TP as a possible factor. This is why it's an awful test, the sand mantle one is extremely simple to do and doesn't take particularly long.
