I said on paper they'd do more damage, and I stick to that statement based on personal experience. By equivalent gear, I mean AH MNK vs AH WAR/SAM/DRG/DRK or top notch MNK vs top notch WAR/SAM/DRG/DRK. People always throw out the term "AH this" or "AH that." so I'd assume it carries a certain connotation with them as it does with me.

Subjob choice absolutely matters, seeing that he specified a meripo situation. If you went MNK/WAR and died a couple times as in the case I posted above, or sponged too hard that you had to stop on account of MP, and slowed overall exp/hr, then it wasn't the better choice. And in the end, I think that's what the OP cares about: what's better, not what deals the most damage.

Maybe so, but he also died a couple times... Being ahead in raw damage potential doesn't always equate to the most damage output. Wish you were still around Rich, I think that was the only time I had the pleasure of meritting with you =[

if i was still around, we'd have our own vbelt selling buisness! both have TH4 and a job that can solo, would been cool (think you have a thf, idk) we'd make mawdawc go emo, amirite?

but yeah i wish i was around too, i wouldve tried DRK next and work my way up the ladder lol. DRK is fun as hell in merit!

The spread was something like 38, 35, 35 where the decimals put the SAM over the MNK by a little. I can fetch the parse if need be - it was posted on these forums before.
    Two things confuse me.

    1) how do you have a parse with 108% damage? (38,35,35)

Assuming these were meant to be something like 35,32,32 instead?

    2) if the mnk/war was at 32, then with mnk/nin, it seems to me, the numbers would have then become 38, 35, 26 due to the loss of berserk and the sj DA trait. I don't have any experience as a mnk/nin of being outdamaged in any remote way by 45% (38 > 26) in xp or anything else like that. To say, no, not even close, is an understatement.

Sure it'd be great if you could post that.

In terms of expensive food as a DD, taking everything about DDing into account, would it be better to invest in Rabbit Pies or Red Curry Buns?

    I'm leaning towards pies.

If you're talking about a Bravura WAR, I'd say pies, definitely. The 100 DEF and Phalanx effect from MT will help you hold onto mob hate and not sponge. Retaliations are a really critical boost for WAR if you can keep hate and not sponge MP.

I'm a little torn on what to do with my MKD headpiece. I want to get something for WAR since it's my main job, but nothing I could do is much of an improvement. I considered a WS piece, but it'd see such situational use (as I have Heca Cap) that it'd be practically pointless. I've also considered a pseudo-Usukane head, but again it'd be incredibly situational. Odin is the only thing I can think of where I might use it offhand... maybe some other HNM where Pizza's acc would be overkill. The other option... is basically just a Turban +1. Add a couple DEX, some DEF and the off chance of a counter, though for anything that's gonna be hitting me really hard I use a PDT set when I have hate. Also, along that vein would the Counter +3 increase my counter rate during Seigan? Or is that part of the JA independent from other counter stuff?

Aside from a couple of HQs and a Bravura my gear/merits are basically maxed out. Any opinions? I have other jobs, but aside from DRK zerging I'm usually on either WAR or stuck on RDM and I don't really wanna do a RDM headpiece. I guess I could do a DNC headpiece, I really enjoy the job but the choices there are meh too, basically a Healing Waltz macro piece. Anyway, I'm sure I'm probably overlooking something that will make the choice obvious, that's why I'm posting here. XD

Ah yeah, sorry, the math worked out better in my head. The parse is here:

    http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/74360...ml#post2697929

As for the MNK/NIN parse, that was a totally different party and I probably do have it saved, but it was back when I used DirectParse. For some reason, I have a whole host of saved parses that just won't load up for some reason, so unless I immediately exported and saved a printscreen, I don't have it available. But I never claimed to have this one readily available in the first place. And wouldn't 38 > 26 just be a 12% deficit?

Blitz or bloodbead for drk zerg? I was told that they're equal but.. I'm not sure if that was under haste/2x SV march or not.

Depends on your other pieces of haste gear. If you have V-belt (with Turban, homam hands, legs and feet) and sub drg, bloodbead. Otherwise I'd use blitz

And if you aren't receiving haste buffs, why bother drk zerging >.> Unless you have a club dmg won't be that good.

Really, the ideal goal is to get 25 or 26 haste (as with rounding, 26 = true 25 haste..).

Bloodbead should outparse blitz if your total haste is really low, though...

With double march, chaos and corsair's roll (most common and arguibly best combination of songs/rolls with a bard and a cor) I parse pretty close numbers with both weapons. In these cases I usually go with GA as I think it performs slightly better, but I havent got enough parses to back it up. When getting double minuet, PA gets really impressive numbers as I posted in the e-peen ws damage thread a couple months ago, but KJ happens to also be really powerful. I think Penta-Thrust gets more off that attack since you start with less attack, too, so it should outparse GA in that situation. If there are some gimps or single handed melees and the bard is doing a madrigar (or the cor a hunter's) and you can just eat mithkabobs, I'd also do PA considering that extra acc is pretty much going to waste with GA.

Hmm. so answer is something like: COR + BRD: GA is better, BRD + BRD: PA can win

If GA is equal most of the time, then the effort to get a 6 hit PA set is not really worth it then hmmm...

Statistically best on paper isn't always best in when it comes to real action, because so many variables comes in there, we all know it.
I'm with Vegetto on this one, if Rich didnt demerit his h2h and used Faith baghs instead and maybe change some stuff around he would probably have smacked the others down.
Either way, MNK/WAR on Mamool is dangerous lol, need a few dual boxed outside healers for that

I'm talking about a kraken club build, yes.

Could someone else give a shot at answering for me? Looking more for should.
And of course, the rest of the gear is perfect and pretty black and white when it comes to drk zerg with support. I can do acc+ vs hp when we wouldn't have feint, but I can't do haste too well.

Monk simply can't match a 2 handed DD of 'equivilent' gear and playstyle in high haste/attack buff situations.

Hasso's 10% haste when you already have 2 marches, haste and 20%~ in gear is going to outperform anything monk can do to improve its damage over a standard BB usu mnk/nin. Even subbing /war, which is completely impractical outside of birds, regardless of how much healing you have, a monk isn't going to keep up with a war/sam full timing hasso.

When you single out individual parties and compare 2 players with good gear it doesn't mean anything. On paper is the only way you can accurately compare the true potential of each job because as you said variables (people) will make a larger difference than the difference in damage potential.

If you can sub War on Mnk, you can ride Hasso and Retaliation on War/Sam, or ride Hasso on Sam, and either can spam penta's which is just retarded on lolibri.
