yea sorry about that, lack of sleep and thinking of single handed axe made me think of war and not bst. my standard rr gear is at like 120 or 121 dex its overkill for birds but pretty close to working on mamool (again i'm not a math person so i'm guessing i'm really close or just a couple off for mamool)

Ok, im a newly 75 PLD who raced from 37 in two weeks, so my gear is all AH and AF atm. And yes, shit is situational, I know, different mobs, different pieces.

But explain to me why PLDs I see are wearing Lamain when they have no other MDB gear on, and why they shouldnt be using one of the other two? As far as im concerned Rosen is the better out of the three.

MDB+1 is only -1%, so for a 100dmg spell, it's only going to reduce it down to 99dmg. Now when youre fighting a very magic heavy mob, and have lots of MDB equip on, great, that 1% would be we welcome in most cases I think then. Im not going to factor in the MP because im a mithra w/ full mp merits, and really, how often are PLD at full mp to make that 10mp even worth while?

Now with Shell, it's just VIT+4, but even that seems better than MDB+1. With the 2VIT=1DEF thing, thats 2 extra DEF, which is soso, but better than nothing. Im likely to believe that 4VIT will reduce more dmg over time than 1MDB.

Rosen I feel is the best as it has VIT and HP, while the HP isnt the best being only 10, I guess it's nice for when you swap in +HP gear to self cure, and again the VIT is a nice touch.

So explain to me, what a PLD, that just hit 75, with meh gear, doesnt have any situational stuff yet, should use as a 'full time' piece when fighting mostly melee mobs.

Forgive any lol-ness, full time mage to 'hey, pld sounds cool' so my knowledge in that department is still quite huuuur atm. Id a 3 week vacation, and wanted to knock out the leveling part of it during that time, and worry about perfecting it after. So yeah, please correct my idiocywhere it arises.
the 10MP is better than HP in Rosenbogen and VIT+4 in shell, imo. and ofcourse like everyone mentioned about the MDB+ is situational and all.

PLDs are usually /nin which doesnt get hit often and the base of your hate comes from your MP. Therefore, compared to the latter - +10HP and +4 VIT; the +10MP is better

Your only goal is maximizing accuracy. The damage for regular swings is inconsequential as long as it provides TP for Atonement. Blood should definitely be one of the rings. Uthalam's vs. Rajas is a little more difficult because while the 5 Store TP provided by rajas enables you to hit 100 TP in 16 swings instead of 15, you're still only getting 2.5 acc for a one handed weapon from the dex (seems like the ideal ring for a capped Acc situation). I'd probably suggest buying a Sniper's for your 2nd ring if you can't get a Toreador's.

As far as the earrings go, Brutal/Suppa is a good option even though DA has less benefit with Joyeuse (~3 DA still best option imo).

I wouldn't tp in blood ring, that's just me as I see no use of extra HP on mobs that you can afford to spam Atonement on.

Rajas/Toreador is what I will do. If no toreador, use ulthalam's. IMO, if Rajas is able to get you from 16 to 15 hit to 100%, then that's still faster than 4.5 acc would do to you.

Isn't blood ring the one with 5 acc on it from the ZNM?

Rajas being best is probably true unless you have a Toreador's and are in a low acc situation. Uthalam > Blood I don't understand though, 1acc > 4atk for atonement TPing.

I just got pld 75 recently too so wondering, what about Iota vs Ulta, assuming at odd dex before iota, and toreador not option currently, since seems like should use rajas as other ring.

I wouldn't do Iota, acc is calculated differently for 1h melees. The Uthalam has more acc.

reason behind ulthalam > blood is only due to that you really don't want to hit for 0. That 4 attack might have at least 1% chance of pushing from 0 to some damage. And when you have no chance of hitting for 0, it is when your accuracy isn't that bad with sushi, so the 1 acc wouldn't be doing much in that case anyway.

Tough call and no right or wrong IMO. Toreador's ring definitely beat both.

ulthalam is a ring for pizza/sushi builds, torreador/bllod/sniper for "meat" builds, period.

Well, if you look at enforcer, it is 95 damage 528 delay, similar to Tred.

Would you want 7.5% critical hit rate or 3 str 3 dex. Pretty sure 7.5% crit. is what you want since guillotine has low str mod, and dex is 1.5 acc, 0.75% hit rate.

And in that theory, it loses to Perdu and Tred..

However, I suspect that Enforcer has hidden effect, so as many others who own one. So I wouldn't count it out yet. It seems to yield unusual high WS damage for some unknown reason.

You 2 may want to learn how to read. Odd dex before Iota means Iota is giving 5 accuracy. The exact same as a NQ sniper, without -def, and with some small amount of defensive stat (including ~1.5 shield for paladins).

Even with an even dex, Iota has the same accuracy as Uthalams, meaning Iota is equal to or more accuracy than Uthalams, ALWAYS.

And, if a NQ sniper is acceptable for "meat" builds, than an Iota is 100% acceptable for an Odd dex-preIota meat build, 100% of the time, And it is in fact, better.

Got a couple of questions regarding WAR here (I'm not actively leveling the job but my wife is level 73 and she doesn't visit these forums). I'm a complete newb when it comes to war, so...

For dual wielding, which is the best out of the following 3 weapons? Will go for a Joyeuse eventually, but for the moment it's not available. She does not actively dual wield, she strongly prefers Great Axe and Polearm, but she carries them anyway and doesn't want to ignore them.

The axes in question are Maneater, Woodsville's Axe, and Iron Ram Pick. We figured Maneater+Woodville's out of these options, but attack+10 from IRP isn't bad I guess.

    For Polearm WAR:
Engetsuto or Gondo-Shizunori? (Leviathan's Couse is the clear winner, but that's a bit out of reach at the moment...)

For hands (WS): She has Alky's, but I know that's not good for multi-hit weaponskills and WS's with a crit chance (Raging Rush, etc). She's a Mithra. Any suggestions for multi-hit WS hands that are NOT rare/ex and come from the AH?

For legs TP / WS: the gear she has here is Dusk Trousers, Exorcist Hose, and Barone legs. For TP, would dusk serve well or would exorcist be better? For WS, we're stuck between Exorcist Hose and Barone legs. For WS, we were thinking Exorcist Hose for multi-hit WS's and Barone Legs for single-hit.

Obviously after getting rare/ex gear a lot of things won't be a concern, but at the moment her Warrior is 100% AH based.

Honestly, I wouldn't ever bother dual wielding without at least a Joyeuse for offhand. Even then I'd probably only do it for fun... sadly you need a Ridill, millions of gil in gear and tons of merits for Dual Wield to ever be even remotely competitive nowadays. Axe/Axe is outclassed so severely by GA even /NIN it's silly. All that said, if she wants to Axe/Axe for fun, Maneater/IR pick is pretty good. Ideally you'd want Maneater/Juggernaut but Juggernaut is way too much gil to justify it imo.

Fore Polearm WAR, go with Gondo hands down if you have it. Engetsuto is fine if you don't.

Mithra doesn't have a whole lot of options... Tarasque Mitts +1 are a decent and relatively inexpensive choice until you can pick up something better.

Dusk is a pretty good choice. If you need the acc go for Exorcist. For WSes, you're pretty right on.
