    It depends on what you're fighting really. Plenty of mobs out there that take 1.5k+ from slugwinder.

    Even so thats only 30 extra damage. I would have thought a consistant 5 r.atk and a little extra acc boost to help land more frequently (allowing meat, str/ratk in other slots etc) would do better.

    Not to mention Racc+10 Rattack+5 STR+4 is also the best TP helm SCNM helm aside.

    On DRG with this equipment: FFXIGEAR.com Which is a 6-hit set without needing any Store TP on the body armor, what is the best body armor? Assume full Polearm Merits, choose one for each Greater Colibri using Yellow Curry Subs and everything harder using Marinara Pizza +1, out of the following options:
    Aurum Cuirass (Accuracy+4, Attack+21, STR+8, DEX+8 )
    Homam Corrozza (Accuracy+15 Triple Attack+1%)
    Neuvo Cosolete (Accuracy+10, Double Attack+2%, STR+5, DEX+5)
    Askar Korazin (Attack+18, Double Attack+2%, STR+5)
    Why?

    Pre-math I am leaning towards the Neuvo for Greater Colibri which would cap Accuracy and Askar for Mamools with Marinara Pizza+1 but obviously using one of the others for Lurkers.

    Im not sure about the answer to the question; but if you wear Aurum (and possibly Askar) you need to consider you could change your Rajas ring to an accuracy ring or keep the rajas and use a sword strap.

    Which changes the question/maths slightly.

    In a vague attempt to answer the question; I have heard good things about Aurum + Vfork + sword strap, so I would be inclined to try try that.

    Yeah I had thought of that but it would have to be at least an Accuracy+7 ring to be worth considering and even then I'm not sure I could use it if I had that gear, as for the Sword Strap I have only seen math that shows Pole Grip to be the absolute best but if stacking DA from Valkyrie's Fork and possibly Askar it's increase might be diminished but I still think Pole Grip will be the best.

    I may be wrong, but I thought based on the assumptions that you are fighting enemies with large amount of HP (not really appropriate for birds) and the sword strap doesn't break your x hit build then it would give a bigger improvement in damage.

    As DRG uses multi-hit WS the effect of DA on your WS average is smaller than compared to say SAM (where a DA nearly doubles their damage). So pole grip is only really improving your TP rate, but I would have thought a sword strap will gain TP faster.

    I think either way you will have a nice DRG.

    But I'm sure a Calculator Jockey will be along soon to answer it all.

    I'll follow this opinion thank you Hebi, thanks to Cyn and Aero for their replies also.

    There was a huge discussion about pole grip vs. sword strap fairly recently and I thought it had it's own dedicated thread but I couldn't find it on the first 5 pages, so it may have been a sub-argument in a different thread. The result was that as long as it doesn't affect your X-hit build, sword strap always outparses pole grip even for single hit weapon skills.

    Drakesbane WS Builds.

    For a while now Ive been using full ares's and STR to Drakesbane in. I thought it was perfectly fine but people seem to have some issues with it, saying a full out str build or a dex build would top it.

    FFXIGEAR.com (My current drakesbane build)

    FFXIGEAR.com (full STR build)

    Im not really in the position right now to try and gear up a DEX build for critting with, due to the lack of a serious body piece (Aurum or Zahaks). So I made what i thought would be the best STR build.

    It seems to be a case though of -

    18 str 12dex vs 19 attack 5 acc 5% double attack.

    Which of these two are actually better for your standard use of the WS (merits, salvage, nyzul, einherjar etc)?

    Full polearm merits + STR merits currently.

    You've also got an extra 21 ATT on the full Ares's, but I would definitely lean toward the mix/match build with that much extra STR especially. 50% WS mod + fSTR boost, thats a lot of STR (and DEX) to lose out on for a WS that heavily favors STR. Hopefully someone less lazy than me will run the numbers, but my guess is the STR build will win by a significant margin.

    Random ass zerg setup question...

    Which would be superior for the 30 second duration of BW?

    FFXIGEAR.com (Dual Wield KC/OC)

    FFXIGEAR.com (/MNK 22% Haste)

    FFXIGEAR.com (/DRG 25% Haste)

    (uncheck campaign for actual HP, or just subtract 200)

    Any way to get higher DoT than the best of above 3 setups?

    Melee Cape vs. Cerb +1 on Final Heaven (60% VIT Mod, static 3.0 ftp)

    5 VIT vs. 4STR 17 ATT. Melee Cape will put VIT @ 131, STR @ 114; Cerb +1 will be VIT @ 126, STR @ 118.

    Cape will add 3 overall base dmg, Cerb will only be 1, so it comes down to 2 Base DMG vs. 17 ATT

    This one, definitely. It should be the best possible set available, if you swap in Fenrir's at day and Happy Egg at night.

    Also, dual-wielding KC/OC is :<

    This has been discussed multiple times, and what you've stated is true. Aurum Body + Sword Strap will produce the most damage. Having said that, it's extremely close, and *not* using Sword Strap enables you to use a Non-sTP body and maintain a True-6-Hit Build (For those of us that acknowledge the value of this type of set). In short, Aurum + Sword Strap is the best for DMG.

    I'd like to see the math and theoretical increase over Pole Grip, and what it would be at higher DA like +7%.

    Sword Strap is a constant increase of 3/97 = ~3.1% DoT/WS frequency (assuming x-hit remains the same).

    Pole Grip at 0%=>2% DA is 2% DoT/WS frequency;
    At 5%=>7% it is 1.9% DoT/WS frequency;
    At 15%=>17% it is 1.7% DoT/WS frequency

    etc.

    Just do 2/(100+DA hits before)

    So for instance going 5%=>7%, with 5% DA you get 105 hits out of every 100, so with 7% you get 107 hits out of every 100. Improvement is therefore (107-105)/105, or 2/105.

    So the answer to my question would be Sword Strap and Aurum/Askar?

    Does that account for the fact that the Sword Strap doesn't actually do anything during Jump and High Jump, while the Pole Grip can still proc? Granted that makes the calculation more difficult, but I thought that's why they were considered to be so close.
