I was thinking this too. What about the fact that events are enjoyable to do because they are? I suppose it becomes monotonous and boring after so many repetitions to get a really rare drop but for me it is more important to enjoy the process it takes to get the item.
I see this from an outside perspective, admiring those who have the ability to be in group activities and participate in large scale events I will only be able to experience on video, reading about it or from friend's stories.
Fov may give you that one nice drop for less time invested. What about the experiences and camaraderie you gain from sharing a complex event with friends that took planning, involved progression of story line and more skilled execution? Was it only worth the end reward or do people take more from the experience than that?
From my limited perspective, I would think that FOV lacks those things. Perhaps I am still idealistic about this game because I see merit in those rare, difficult to obtain game rewards and would think that they cannot be made obsolete by mere stats.
