So where the hell are those haubs?![]()
So where the hell are those haubs?![]()
That post reminds me of the Chewbacca defense.
You dont HAVE to do certain events. You dont have to do FOV or Campaign. You can still do your Salvage runs.
Bottom line, you will still think you are better than those FOV people and their casual Epic Lottery gear.
Hey are people still Spamming ANNMs? I heard there was some nice gear that was as good as Relic armor.
;/
All people who get rare and difficult to obtain items are workers and players. Like you said, this is exactly why they are upset. Glad we got that out of the way.
That's the whole point. It's not only not entertaining, it's shitty as hell to do repetitive tasks to make money to fund a rare piece of gear. The point is, people do it anyway and earn it because they want it. Now if you're just going to argue that fun > work, so everything's great, I don't know what to say really. You have one group of people who did a lot of work for a reward, and second group that did no work for their equivalent reward. This is not fair, and pretty much common sense.Originally Posted by BRP

That's the complaint, right?
Problem is, you're implying that if your goals are item-based then it's impossible to enjoy other facets of the game. I loved doing missions, exploring new areas, embarking on pointless little excursions purely for the fun of it and for no tangible reward. I've done all that, and I still appreciate it, but at the end of the day my focus is on developing my character within this escapist little world. No, they are not. They are about playing games in an MMO environment. So instead of Diablo with less than 10, we have Diablo with 100s.
I take the game very seriously, and there's no shame in admitting that. Just because I take it seriously doesn't mean I don't have fun. It isn't a black and white issue.Games like Diablo are not about getting paid, they are about being entertained. This is the distinction between work and play. So this should only upset you if you are a worker, and not a player.
Absolutely, content that is fun is definitely worth doing. You know what I think is fun? Succeeding at endgame content, which has the added bonus of furthering my character's development far more quickly than spending all day every day in Campaign. All three of these work in the same way as whatever other type of content you care to mention. You are missing the point in that whatever is entertaining is worth doing. Pankration and Clamming isn't really entertaining at all(well Pankration for a short while.) Campaign is more attached with the battle system(the game's essence) so that is at least potentially worthwhile. Specifics are pointless though.
So sue me for being the kind of person that has most fun when he's gradually building up a long-term project, regardless of what that might be.True, but what is much more sane is putting these two in reverse. You want to PLAY videogames, so your primary motivation will be to have fun/mental stimulation. Thus, most games lack this worker-motivation and still are fun(if not funner.)
More exasperated at this point.you mad?
And someone on Phoenix has an Augmented Hagun with DEX+2 VIT-1 AGI-1 MND+1 someone on my shell said. lol
So the thing just turned out to be a little better then Morrigan's Robe for almost no effort. Until I see the sky raining with Weskits with that type of Augment or better then I'm seriously not going to care.
Seriously, the game has not had significant new endgame content in quite a while now. The game has had NO actual challenges since Ein (getting T3 success rate high is a challenge) and PW. The game is already at the place you seem to fear it going, and you're still playing it.
Do you have any idea how pathetic this sounds? Doesn't sound like playing at all.It kind of defeats the entire purpose of playing.
Because it is fun. It is almost like we are talking about games! If you can just fuck around and get the best shit, then why do anything that takes time?
Actually you are arguing the opposite. I am only criticizing that argument. I wouldn't want everything to take 5 minutes. I would want things that are boring or pointless to take 0 minutes. The longer the fun parts, the better. If you're just arguing that you don't like anything that takes time, and want everything to take 5 minutes, I don't know why you play FFXI honestly.
"Casual" in all senses of the word just doesn't matter. It doesn't matter how long something takes only how challenging it is which means how interesting it is. Street Fighter is "casual" but Street Fighter is such a deeper game with much more room for mastery.Ultra casual
A lot of exclusive RA/EX FFXI gear is earned by time+money x (luck in claiming mobs OR strength of your bots) x the RNG dropping what you want.
The new FoV gear is earned by time+money x luck in getting augments that don't ruin the piece. All that's missing is the need to bot/kill an HNM.
There is no data yet to support that the second scenario lessens the value of the first. The largest variables are still time and luck, not this imaginary 'I work hard for my relics' bullshit spouted all over the thread.
Workers OR players. All people who get rare and difficult to obtain items are workers and players.
Play > WorkNow if you're just going to argue that fun > work
Fun > Imaginary monopoly dollars and pixels
What do you mean fair? Is someone cheating and haxing their drop rates or augment stats lol? This is not fair
Why should I be playing WoW? Have you read a single thing I've written? Think about what is fun, not only what is not fun.I guess my one question then is, why aren't you playing WoW? (seriously, not trolling)
So like I'm 500k away from Morrigans robe and I don't think I will need it anymore.
Does it work on HQ?
Okay, I guess talking about game design is pathetic now lol? Let's just turn on the game then and it shows the ending credits when you win. Because, what I was arguing is that the work/reward ratio is a critical aspect of why people enjoy this game and find it fun. If I wake tomorrow and find everything I ever wanted in my delivery box, a huge reason for playing is gone. I would prefer to earn it, I don't understand how that is pathetic.
so really, ppl traded warwolf belts and got stupid shit in fov, ppl were complaining because it wasn't omgwtfbbq. Now, with this weskit, square revealed that fov isn't a complete waste of time and ppl still complain. fov is gambling, pure and simple. some people win; some people lose. over the long haul of people spamming trade items most people lose. the important thing in gambling is get out while you're ahead.
