I don't blame the game exclusively, I also blame the community to some extent for allowing such shit to happen, which includes botting and allowing for gimps to even get anything worth getting. I don't think it's ever going to change, but I do think it really blows to spend four years of your life becoming uber at something only for some other idiot to run up and get it in fourteen seconds.

I'm not advocating for change, but I can certainly see how things like this might be cause for some upset.

Someone getting Dring doesn't become better at FFXI. The rules of the game just changes around them.

If they are in a party with Dring(even better if they killed the monster despite their "weak" skills) in the pool they "deserve" to lot unless they have it in their inventory. Now, players can add new rules on top of this where someone makes a judgment, like a LS leader. There he can choose who deserves it more. It would be his choice.

However until that guy is introduced, it is all fair. Always. Because it is random.

This has been happening since long before Augments. And 5 years ago the argument was "It's pretty asinine that my LS that doesn't bot but works oh so hard doesn't get drops but that LS that bots and doesn't work for claim gets drops." The game hasn't changed since then, I can't believe folks aren't as numb to the RNG rewarding luck over competence by now.
