Because we want FFXI to be WoW? I'm going to continue to enjoy the game regardless, but if I wanted to play WoW, I could have skipped 6 years of FFXI.

And Therin, it's not really about that, it the EXTREME grade of time spent VS the no time spent at all for this, they could've made a damn new endgame event to be able to get augments on equipment like this instead of 5 min in FoV.

A downside of this, to me, is that fancy signed gear can't be signed. Which means that all the white box HQs that are signed... are suddenly going to be less useful than an unsigned one that you can chance at an augment. Sure, you can rip off the signature, but meh at that.

I don't really see this as the sky is falling sort of thing. It smacks of people whining about Bonanza Hautclaires and the like, to me.

If someone chooses to spend a lot of time doing FoV for epic augments, then what's wrong with that? Sure, some people will get lucky... but most won't and at least it will partially revive the flatlining patient that is crafting.

Kings are insane and have always been. They were fun when you were 16-18 and enjoyed the drama. Salvage itself was poorly executed. Great idea, but 100+ runs for your 35 is ridiculous. So is Khroma availability. I welcome adjustments that increase our reward to time ratio. King gear will still maintain exclusivity, there's nothing wrong with sidegrades. Most of it is nearly obsoleted now anyway.

You guys act like FoV is going to shit out items like this 24/7. Chances are thy lucked out, and there is a good chunk of money loss if you attempt haubys and shit with it, so I dunno. Yes we are all retarded, how insightful. If the best gear in the game can be obtained by logging on to FFXI for 5 minutes to solo an NM, what is the point of any end game event? Congrats, you just got the best nuking body in the game, since its pointless to go to any events which would put it to use, you can log back on tomorrow and shave 0.5 seconds off your next FoV solo!

Edit: I've said from the first post this is a step in the wrong direction, not a game killer. Also said I will still continue to enjoy the game, everyone QQ'ing about people QQ'ing need to get a clue. People are going to like/ dislike certain things and express that opinion. Amazing discovery I know, but apparently it needs to be pointed out to the 5 year olds in the crowd.

Yea I hate to be a pessimist, but this is one of the biggest leaps in the wrong direction I have seen in FFXI.

Except now everyone will want to do this, push prices on the items way up, re-start crafting economy, supply/demand will make it undesirable for months, rinse and repeat.
