Man this just seems like a boring rehash of every butthurt I've heard over the last five years. Sushi (I worked hard for my acc rings, now everyone and their brother will be a decent melee!), exp requirement reduction (I worked hard to get my job to 75, now everyone will hit 75 in a week!), and even salvage (I worked hard for my dalmatica/briault, now everyone will have a refresh body without having to do kings like I did!)
yet the game still continues and the world keeps turnin'
JESUS CHRIST SOMEONE'S POSTING THEIR OPINIONS TEMP BAN NOW
Hell hath no fury like a haijin scorned.
The chance of creating a waste of space is far greater than creating something great with this system, I don't see the problem. The amount of money people will pour into this only to get a weskit with -5 MAB or something will be hilarious.
As multiple people have stated, anyone who got pissed off at stuff like that (barring, perhaps, buying a TK the day before the Sozu patch or something) was pretty stupid. This whole thing wouldn't have exploded nearly as much if more people's arguments were centered around the fact that this is unlikely to be half as disastrous as Fridell and whoever else made out, with less of the "casual players should be able to get the same stuff as hardcore players with hardly any effort" bullshit being thrown around.
Most of the arguing going on here is about ideals rather than the actual reality of the augment system.
I'm late now but this is what I thought the instant I saw the OP.
I don't see where it says I get 5 more MAB for having the rest of the igqira set either.
GG, it's nice and it pwns morgana's, NQ/HQ weskit/royal with MAG/MAC augs, but being a burly purple ball with auto-refresh > like 19 more dmg on nukes if say a +10INT weskit was found.
So the like 10 pages of QQing is really epic and all, but fail.
Since you started bitching about something that's not a big deal. Remotely negative? This isn't a "Hey guys I disapprove of this feature", it's a bunch of people whining about FoV suddenly becoming the new shit. Quite frankly I don't think it's worth spending tons of gil when Salvage items are already comparable to FoV augmented items. These people are *extremely* lucky to receive the bonuses they have.
The worst part is that people are complaining about a system that could potentially solve a lot of complaints in FFXI. The first and most obvious fix is that the augment feature has a use. The second fix (Potential) is that crafting may once again become profitable. The third is that the system has the potential to grant worthwhile bonuses.
Another aspect that many forget is the fact that this system runs much like Salvage in the sense that it's heavily gil and luck based. Unlike Salvage however, the gil isn't within a set range. Just as how you can go (1/100) on a Salvage piece you need to complete the set, you can go (1/100) on these augment pieces. The difference however, depending on the item, may mean the augment piece will run you 290mil (This figure using Genie Weskit). These individually are extremely lucky to run into acceptable stats on their armor. For anyone who believes otherwise, I refer you to the other augment thread in which Warwolf belts turn up with 14 Earth Bonuses.
In short, many of the people are overreacting. Some of them, (Neo I'm looking at you!) are even contradicting earlier sentiments towards this feature. I myself saw this coming the moment they announced the system and was somewhat more satisfied seeing the Warwolf Belt pictures. It's not comfortable knowing that your items can potentially become better at the risk of Gil/A decent item. Having said that, it's not worth complaining about since the fraction of the people receiving great stats on their augmented items is heavily outweighed by the vast majority of lolElementalorStatuseffectresistance augments.
not taking sides here, but what's the diff between getting a good aug item this way and being able to get 5 enmity 5 fast cast in less than a day's worth of work? (which everyone was so OMG about it rather than bitching at it)
Completely agreed with this. FoV is a solution to so many problems and in a way it's exactly what players have been asking for. I can't think of many other fixes besides this that could have revived crafting the way it has (or will). Also.. finally, there is a way of putting in work for potentially some of the best endgame gear, solo or in a group, whenever you want.
The ability to solo your own tabs and some of the lower level elite FoVs is a big one for me. Wah wah inb4 why you playing MMO if you want to solo. Let's just say that's how some people enjoy it and that there's a reason BST is so popular with some people![]()
I guess what I don't get (as many other people may have pointed out, I skipped most of this thread) is that people cry when FoV augments are worthless and sucky, and then they cry when they're actually useful....
So which do you want? lol
Personally a morrigan's robe has always been incredibly out of reach for me, both gil and salvage group wise, so I'm pretty happy to hear that I can try for an augment like this.
