Square Enix did not introduce the term until WOTG. Any RDM w/ Death Blossom will tell you can force a monster's magic evasion down, and any DNC will tell you that Stutter Step's effect reads "Lowers magic evasion" up on success.(I recall that being the message anyway.. It's been a while since I've partied with a DNC and a long while since I've seen the step used.)

Maybe not as awesome as INT+6, but I like it!

M.eva is probably one of the bunch of hidden stats like accuracy and ranged accuracy that has always been in the game but SE has officially introduced it as a gear stat in this update.

Why do you think you almost always resist spells cast on you by low level mobs even though you have no elemental resist gear and low INT/MND?
It could be a level correlation matter or M.eva just increases as your level does, there's no way to confirm or deny either of them.

It should be interesting if a m.eva build works as well as an X element resistance one.

Well brother, that's how it is, I know for sure how work can mess up your hobby, i work totally random times and often a lot, however I'm happy I'm able to have random times I work (sometimes good sometimes not..) but even so I still don't think peopel with low amount of playtime should be able to get super stuff rather easy. These players already have great gear that is easy to obtain from AH / Assault / Nyzul Isle.

Also Elemental Resistance vs Magic Evasion? Perhaps there is a chance Magic Evasion is just an universal number?

The entire concept is silly as hell, how do you evade a spell? Like stated, a resist. Resists are just resists. Perhaps the term "evasion" is misleading or something, because I see evading as avoiding being hit. I'm clearly not evading if I'm even getting partially hit by a spell, I've just built up some resistance.

I mean come on, you evade a melee it, and it simply says that the mob misses you. There's no partial evasion going on. Is there? The whole concept of magic evasion is so screwy I can't even wrap my head around it. Maybe that's just me.
It could act in an Accuracy vs. Evasion standard, and it works to decrease magic accuracy of the caster.

It could be a lot worse. Still a pretty nice addition to a nice belt.

It is a hidden stat that didn't really make it's way into the NA version of the game term wise until Stutter Step and Death Blossom. My understanding is that Magic Evasion boosts your resist rates to all magic whereas barspells give you resistance to a single element or stat.

Magic Evasion is pretty much a universal barspell. Think of it that way.

If it's true that stutterstep and death blossom can allow debuffs to land on mobs that are otherwise immune (btw, is this true? or is this shit people make up? and is it true immunity and not the 5% chance thing?) then while it is a component of the same question, it would appear to function differently than a global resist-down, since I don't believe that threnody/nin nukes/AM can have that effect.

I have never seen conclusive proof that it does, and in all my limited (lol very limited) testing, it doesn't.

Something like Ix'MNK, Death Blossom, ES stun or grav would be the easiest way to confirm. I'm pretty sure sea mob immunities tend to be full immunity rather than the very low % chance (like landing stun on Fafnir).

Well I think that some NM/HNM's evasion for a specific element is so high that we cannot reach the point in magic accuracy to where we could land that specific enfeeble.

For the longest time people thought Kirin was outright resistant to stun, but we know that you can land stun, just that the chances of doing so are extremely low. Nukes are different from enfeebles because with nukes, if you get a resist, it cuts your damage by a specific amount and you still do damage. But with enfeebles, if you get a resist you outright fail to enfeeble. You could cast Thunder on Kirin all day and get fully resisted and still do damage (albeit very low dmg) but if you try stun, you will just plain resist with an extremely high rate.

Death Blossom and Stutter Step on HNM's that resist a specific enfeeble might not bring the mobs eva down low enough to see less resists, but, it can still help with lowering resist on nukes. It would be like a level 1 fighting a level 75 mob with the mob having Evasion down placed on it via DNC steps. The level 1 will not see a difference in their accuracy.

Enfeeble resists aren't that much different than elemental resists. The duration of a partial resist on an enfeeble is shorter.

If I've learned anything from reading this thread, it's that it seems a large majority of people believe if Player A is more skilled than Player B, it's Player A's BIRTHRIGHT to have better gear.

If that's not leetist, iono what is...

Correct, I was speaking mainly of if you get a full resist you won't land the spell. If you got a full resist on a nuke, you still land damage but on an enfeeble a full resist results in the spell not landing.

There is nothing wrong with a belief in meritocracy, but unfortunately it seems people haven't learned that life isn't fair.

    Hello +15 Store TP GTK.

And I've been playing since NA launch, and I had never heard the term Magic Evasion either.
