Not sure if this belongs here really... has anyone found a use for Pendant Compass, I feel like SE is whooshing me and the item just leaves me generally confused. Why would we need to know x/y/z, and why would SE make an item to show us it?

It's for future use, so I guess ignore it for now?
for nubs in dynamis who can't navigate?
The following item has been added to the list of goods purchasable from linkshell distributor NPCs:
Pendant Compass
* The compass is an equippable item for characters level 20 and above which, when used, will display one's current positional coordinates within a given area.
* This coordinate information may be used with the upcoming "Player Event Support" service. Detailed information will be made available via a special site for the service in the near future.
reading patch notes is hard
I wonder if it'll add some sort of marker to our compasses. It'd be helpful in Nyzul Investigation if that's how it works.
Just let me see the goddamn compass when I'm engaged.
WELL CLEARLY.
No, it's mostly that I spent the first three years of playing this game absolutely mystified that somehow my backline always knew where the next mob was coming from. "Incoming from the NE!" "WHAT IS NE."
It gives you x/y/z coordinates? I had figured it just gave you <pos>, and it confused me why they would add such an item.
SE is dabbling with the idea of in-game mechanics that give you information normally only obtainable through 3rd party tools?
Okay, now add an item that shows us our hidden stats like current Racc, Ratt, Macc, etc.
Does it give your coordinates in areas that don't have a map like limbus? If it does this could actually be a neat tool to help create real maps for mapless zones to be used in game.
This could be useful for Chocobo Hot & Cold....
It'll be a new question when you try recover your dropped items
"Do you know your Coordinates from the Pendant Compass? it will help us investigate"
The pendent gives you X/Y/Z coordinates, and a number within brackets which I've yet to decipher. Perhaps it's your player's entity value.
One thing I've noticed though is that you can only use it once, as after the first charge it just refuses to use again for some reason, so perhaps what SE plans to implement actually requires you to 'reset' something regarding the item to be able to use the other 9 charges. I originally thought it may have been some useless tool that GMs could make you use, but given you can't just use it freely, I'm thinking otherwise now.
Gimmy a moment, uploading a picture....
Here we go:

I would guess its for an event they haven't implemented yet, where you're given coordinates of something and you have to find it.
The update stated that it was for the upcoming Player Created Events thingy which has been under wraps for some time now. I assume the player would be using them to instruct the event on where to place things. e.g. place the tree decoration in Windurst Woods at X Y Z, or place the event NPC at X Y Z.
If you can only use it once for now though it sounds useless outside of that context.
Confirmed how to read the compass:
First number is east-west
Second number is below-above
Third is north-south
Fourth is rotation, 0 is straight east, 1000 is south, 2000 is west and 3000 is north.
Also the last -three- digits of the first three numbers are decimal places.
Is this in ingame units or Ilms?
Could be used for an event very similar to that one way back, something astral star, was I believe during summerbreeze.
That one that gave your partner your distance from the ??? in Ilms and you had to guide each other hot and cold style to it.
