Like I said, I understand why you did it. And in the end you're the moderator not me, so to be honest my opinion means dick. While I don't want to come across as complaining too much about the issue, it just seems kind of silly to lock threads where there's still active conversations taking place. I could understand, and would agree with you, if they went by a few days and were necro'ed or had no new posts at all. Which wasn't the case. But as I said before I understand your reasoning, I may not agree with it. But I understand it. And be honest, did you think you would cause this much QQ'ing lol?
