there's a difference between losing weight and losing fat, and p90x is pretty well known as a tough workout, but not one you'd want to follow if you're just looking to put on muscle. The diet included in the workout is good nutrient-wise, but it doesn't have the caloric excess required to gain muscle mass.

Absolutely. Will you be bigger? Most likely not because the majority of the people doing the program and looking to lose size not gain and that's what it is aimed towards, being fit and toned with less body fat.

Also for bulking there are tons of other supplements that will greatly benefit you used along with recovery drinks.
    yea this

if you are a skinny bitch P90 will definitely help you bulk up, especially since you wont have to follow the diet. i have a rather small friend that did it and he put on a nice amount of size, hes like normal human size now

P90X is stupid. If you want to get in shape, modify your calorie intake, cut the shit out of you diet, do some cardio, and lift weights. Squats, dead lifts, bench presses, and variants of those three wonderful compound exercises will do the same thing but better.

Bulking/cutting is ten times more dependent on nutrition than the exercises you're doing. Even if you're doing bodyweight exercises (push ups, sit ups, pull ups, etc.) and running five miles a day, you'll still gain muscle mass if you're consuming 5,000 kcal/day and a healthy amount of protein.

To be honest, the only reason I looked into this is because I'm pigeon chested, which means my sternum pokes out a bit between my pectoral muscles. Not a lot, and I'm not that self conscious about it, but I'd like for it to be a bit less noticeable.

I definatley don't want to LOSE weight, but I don't want to be a body builder either. Will it help to put on *lean* muscle, or is it stictly a lose weight, slim down routine?

From the looks of the "testimonials" online and from what I looked up, people seem to have gotten quit big off of all this. I dunno
its GREAT for the chest, also great for shoulders and arms, more tricep than bicep though, just because of the nature of all the workouts.

Eat steak for every meal and go for 6000 calories a day while working out every other day and use the right supplements, you won't be pigeon chested. It's not something that you can do though, and then just stop after 90 days. You'll thin back out quite quickly. Everyone is different though, some people are naturally stronger and have to do a lot less to get to the next level, were others have to bust their ass to either get bigger or lose fat.

Also, never focus on your biceps it's pointless. Do other exercises they will work your biceps too and you'll bulk in proportion.

I wish I could afford to eat steak for every meal. I'm trying to bulk up (coming along slow but steady) but can't afford to eat that many calories a day, nor do I really have the available time most days.

What are some cheap ways to gain calories?

yes, plus push ups and pull ups. Programs are great for people, it's hard to be self motivated. Get a partner to do it with you, regardless of what you're doing it's always easier to maintain a schedule when you are with someone else.

Supplements, some shakes alone have over 1k calories in them.

I'm trying to slim down. I'm at ~125 now. Was 135 about a month and a half ago. Haven't been over 130 in about 3 weeks.

I do, I'm just looking for other ways as well. Whey protein's a helluva drug, but cocaine is cheaper.

peanut butter, sweet potato, avocado, nuts (almonds in particular), beans, hummus are all relatively calorie-dense, and good calories at that.

P90X sounds perfect for you, ignore the people saying it sucks because they're being contrary. Of course you can do something else or simply do what P90X suggests instead of downloading it, but for someone who hasn't worked out before and doesn't know the first thing, it'll do wonders for you. P90X will also give you a schedule and a nutrition outline to follow so the work is done for you, all you have to do is stick to it and follow the calendar. My friend David was a shrimp before starting and now he looks semi-buff like in shape for his size. You will not get big off of this if you described your body type and metabolism correctly, you will actually need to struggle to stick to the nutrition plan and eat lots of snacks in addition to it if anything, in order to have the energy to keep up with the workouts. People getting BIG from P90X are going through it multiple times or modifying the diet.

If you have 24-hour Fitness in your area, you can stock up on Muscle Milk tubs for $20/pop. It's not the greatest powder known to man (too fatty for my liking) but it's tasty and you want calories anyway. They don't always have it for $20, but they have sales every other month, I buy 3-4 tubs every sale. For the price it's hard to beat.

When I was on EXM and they wanted people to gain weight, they'd always have me take them to Chipotle lol.

Products - Nutek - Advanced Nutrition Technology (mass complex) This is what I'm using now, which (to me, who knows almost jack) is better than the regular Muscle Milk, and is similar to Monster Milk, but this has less fat. Only pay $30 for the 4lb container. However, if I take it twice a day like they suggested, with the actual 4 scoops, shit barely lasts a week. So I usually take 2 scoops when I wake up and 2 scoops after work out.

It gets expensive fast, I am probably around 400$ a month I'd guess on stuff.

Want to get big fast and look awkward as hell, just use some roids! You can be raging all over then. Depending on your age, and the amount of testosterone you produce you can try using testosterone supplements and also increase the amount of receptors your body uses to make better use of your natural test, it's basically the best roid you could use and it's natural and safe, don't over do it though. BONUS: You might also get a higher libido and more endurance.

    its basically a workout routine. if you havent worked out before, thats good, youll at least learn some stuff you wouldnt have otherwise, but basically its a bunch of workouts. Some people need the guidance, some don't, but here's your basic nutrition rundown;

Carbs are not bad unless they are bad carbs. Don't drink soda all the time, once or twice a week is fine depending on how active you are, but less is always better.

Eat legit veggies/fruit, i usually only eat pineapples and oranges, and the only juice i ever have in the house is pom juice. Juice is bad because its basically just flavored calories without any of the fiber which a lot of people underscore, but having a better digestive system is much better for overall health.

Meats - go with lean meats, avoid red stuff. Poultry and lean fish are where its at, if you like beans that is an option for you too. Try to avoid supplements if you can get whats in them in your diet.

Eat whole grain bread. Wheat is the most common, but make sure its whole grain, otherwise its just white bread that looks brown and tastes wheaty.

More importantly, know your BMR and know what you're eating. After a while, you'll get a general sense of how much you should and shouldnt be eating. Its ok to eat like a fatass every couple of days, so dont totally deprive yourself or you'll just end up relapsing really frequently.

As a personal example, my day is usually whole grain cereal for breakfast+2 slices of pineapple, hand made chicken/swiss/tomato/whole wheat bread sandwich, and chicken breast or fish with veggies for dinner. I'm not bulking at all right now or i'd be eating more, but right now i dont really want to work out a lot anymore. I'm healthy and in shape so i just do the minimum i need to stay in shape, which usually amounts to 2-4 hours a week of exercise, but work and day to day activities keep me active, so if you're just at a desk all day it'll be way more difficult.

The goal of exercising and eating well, for me at least, is to find a point where i can naturally sustain good health as part of my day to day routine without going too far out of my way. It's why athletes have "athletic" bodies - their bodies are naturally that way because its part of what they do. You don't need to be an athlete to have an athletic body, but you will need to put in an equal amount of work.

In terms of protein supps though, if you're eating right you wont need one, but its REALLY convenient to have on days where you cant eat perfectly. I usually have a scoop in milk (all the milk i drink is fat free) before & after a workout, so its 1 total serving with both included. Just seriously, make sure that you take care of yourself in terms of nutrition, and stretch before your workouts. You should never be super sore the day after a workout - some soreness will happen, but if you can barely (or cant) extend your arms out you really overworked. Stretching prevents a lot of overuse injuries and keeps you going, which is most important. If you stop working out, you'll fall into a slump, so do what you can to continuously workout even if its very low intensity. low intensity 7 days a week is much better than high intensity 1 day a week.
