Hey you guys, I know the daigo vs jwong match was hailed by you as epic (and if it didnt gtfo of this thread right now). I just wanted to see whos performance you thought was better, regardless of who won.
Daigo
MOTHA FUCKIN DAIGO
Not Justin Wang, BUT DAIGO NIGGA

Seeing how Daigo won...
Jwong
3 Grand Finals in tourney pools of massive sizes....
SF4 ...1000+
MvC2...Almost 400
3rd Strike....Not sure, 250+?
Absolutely amazing...
A better poll would be East vs. West, but then it would be 100-0% East XD East threw it down and dominated. There is no match over here for the Empire. Marn/Jwong/Arturo could all OCV any other regions 5.......
What is really scarry though.... Nemo/Daigo/Mago/Momochi/X
If we are talking about overall? Yeah, sure, Wong.
and no, it wasnt overall, it was in the daigo vs justin match.
Overall though, justin shows great ability and skill, probably the best overall 2d fighter in the world.
but that nigga daigo is the #1 sf plaayyaa
True and not.
Impressive by Wong to do so well with a character he hadn't played all weekend in tourney play, TWICE.
Other the other hand, Balrog is an arcade character which Daigo has been playing since 2008. He has plenty of experience playing against Balrog.
There are good Balrog players in Japan. They said, "maybe he doesn't get a lot of Balrog play" and the other guy responded, "no, there are plenty of good Bison(Balrog in JP) players in JP".
The only chars he might not have much exp with are the console characters, which is his own problem and not an excuse.
Can someone link me to the match? I missed it due to being at work, and the ones on the net seems to be all taken down. I'll take any download/streaming :/
I was going to say, that sounded like BS. No way in hell am I going to be believe Boxer doesn't get a lot of play anywhere.
EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3Qdy8nAEyY
Right out of Daigo's mouth. Lots of good balrogs
PS: Daigo is everything I would want out of a woman.
That dude's Ryu was more bland than John Choi's....no idea how he made it that far.....too many Emp Arcadia got matched up before top 8 I guess.
Btw - Sanford was going to play Seth if he played Daigo.
Thanks for the link ^^
i wanted wong to win deep down lol. i even posted it in the SFIV thread, but diago said he wasnt taking the matches serious in the end to put on a good show. thats kinda fucked up to do to someone who was playing their heart out.
but in diago's defense, he was right in that interview posted by BRP. you earn more respect, and skill by overcoming the weakness in the character you stick with rather than having to counterpick. justin pwns ryus all over US with rufus. but when it comes to top tier ryu's who take risks, hell have to counterpick rather than overcome it. he dive kicks too much, and uses too many messiah kicks which ryu can punish like nothing, more than other characters, but you learn from it, and do something different. i think he couldve done good with rufus too.
i look at the video, and i see him looking at diago's face when he high lighted a few characters like dictator, to see if he saw any fear in diago, but he was just calm as hell lol. if people had that mentality, it would take like 10 min to start a match, because ppl could keep counter picking over and over and wait till the other person picks. idk, that shit gets on my nerves. marn lost in devastation because of that.
as far as all of evo is concerned. id say screw wong and diago and give it up to my boy sanford. when you see old videos of him, youll see him tapping out with Ken when facing LI joe in a hissy fit playing like an absolute scrub. now you see him #1 in mahvel' and obliterating ppl with cammy, and didnt he come out in like.. 4th? he beat the hell out of everyone who didnt think shit of him.
i also liked sabre. with such a low tier character, he brought out the mindgames/guess games to its fullest!
Are these two better at any other fighting game or just SF?
While I may sound like I'm joining the bandwagon or riding on the the JPN stuff, Justin did great with his Rog. His style is weird in terms of how he plays. Ajiro-Guile's Bison is a GrandMaster Bison but doesn't play like American Boxers in general, so the idea of how Justin played is foreign for Daigo. Besides the fact that Boxer wins that match up anyway, and Daigo's constantly jumping in on Rog(he is known for being hard-headed when it comes to that stuff) made him eat a lot which made the match look weird from anyone's point of view. I do have to say, Weltall mentioned had Japan brought more of their players here, how would they have done in general? Momochi's Akuma/Ryu, Kindevu's Viper/Rufus, Ohnuki's Chun Li, Mago's Sagat, R.F's Sagat, Tokido's Chun Li, Ojisan-boy's Sagat/Abel, Shiro's Abel?
