    wipEout HD - Fury Pack

So, anyone else picking this puppy up? I'm playing Zone Battle the second it's out, so if you want to go against me, my PSN is Genexi2.

Huge-ass expansion for $10 that has arguably more content than the base game.

What wipEout HD came with :
5 gameplay modes (Time Trial, Speed Lap, Race, Zone, Tourney)
    12 ships
    8 tracks

What Fury pack supposedly introduces :
3 new gameplay modes (Zone Battle, Eliminator, Detonator)
    13 new ships
12 new tracks (rebuilt from prior wipEout titles, such as the case with the original wipEout HD tracks)

    [EDIT]
Regarding the 13 ships, they're based upon the existing teams, adding in a new faster version of each, a Zone battle ship model, and a campaign-completion model.

For the tracks, there's 4 for racing on, 4 in reverse, and 4 for the Zone/Zone Battle/Detonator modes. So technically there's only 8 'new' tracks, but all the official sources claim the reverses as their own tracks. ;/
    [/EDIT]

Should be out in 30min for North American users, waiting with eagerly.

This may go down as one of the largest add-ons ever released for a DLC-only game.

WipEout HD is still on sale for $15, but will be back to its usual $20 price-tag after today.

Bought HD on the day of release and basically completed the game in a day or two(it was even shorter than Wipout PSP ;; ). My only complaint was the music to be honest, it was rather lackluster compared to previous games. Would be epic if the DLC adds some new music for new tracks.

I strongly recommend this game to anyone who is interested in futuristic racing or racing games overall. It runs at awesome 60 FPS and gives the sense of speed brilliantly.

Just updated my game to 2.0

Fury apparently sports its own campaign mode (80 events), as well as 6 new music tracks, and 13 new trophies.

[EDIT] Seems the sale of WipEout HD is over, shame, was thinking that was going to stay until the end of the day, guess not.

kinda disappointing to hear that the music was subpar, as it was always the best part of the series. Also I read this thread title as "furry pack" at first >_>

wipEout HD was my 2nd wipEout game, first was wipEout Pure since I needed a racer for my PSP, and it had the higher ratings.

Oddly enough I could never get into Pure as I kept crashing into the walls. Either the analog triggers in HD make life a lot easier, or that having the game run ay 60fps at 1080p just makes it easier to judge when you should act on hugging the turns.

How big a deal was the music exactly for the series?

[EDIT] Fury is up for US players. Canucks are left waiting as usual for their store update.

[EDIT2] Finally out for Canadians. 738mb expansion, that's nearly the full size of the original game. o.O

I have to say, I'm not a fan of the new menu, but at least it's optional and can switch back to the original look.

Just bought this, up to 1.8 gigs now, gotta be the biggest downloadable game I've gotten off the PSN now.
I'm doing pretty bad, it's been too long, I've gotten rusty, but I like it so far.

I have to say I am loving all three new gameplay modes. The 'Fury' title suits the pack well, as the focus has geared over from doing perfect laps, to mass destruction of your opponents.

This is a steal at $10 compared to what most titles give you these days. What does a map-pack for Killzone or CoD run these days, $8 for two measly maps?

If this is the direction games are taking, I'll gladly suit up. $20 for a base title with add-ons over time beats shelling out $70 for a retail game new......then shelling out further cash to keep up with the online community.

Gaming is just getting too expensive these days. I'm ranking WipEout HD + Fury up alongside Team Fortress2 as far as bang-for-your-buck goes in gaming value.

It's already up on EU. They're 2nd in line for PSN updates, following Japan.
