Are you saying "racist cop" and "a celebrity raped me" stories are rumormongering by the media, and that the subjects of the stories made no such accusations? That Gates didn't really think his cop was racist, and the woman didn't think she was raped, but the media paints it that way to make it interesting?
Or that we're outraged that people use the race/rape card all the time, when it's actually rare, and we only think the race/rape cards are played out because the media doesn't cover all the times a black man is arrested and no one thinks it's racially motivated?
Leif is here, I'm done.
You are scared of Minorities arent you?
You are saying you profile people based on their appearance(race and how they dress) and their actions(terrorist fist bumps and speaking a foreign langauge)
Its ok to admit it, there is nothing wrong with that. I already profiled you, so anything you say wont change my mind.
It's a better indicator of who needs "help" to succeed than race. Why isn't affirmative action based on income level instead of the color of your skin?
Gates was arrested because he refused to provide ID. Then he played the race card. Then he started saying nasty things to the police officers. Then he got angry, lost control, and suddenly though it was all about race.Originally Posted by Wikipedia
It turns out, it was only because a woman thought someone was breaking and entering. This could have been prevented if this Gates person showed them ID, explained the situation, didn't act like a buffoon and had some self-control.
Seems like a valid arrest to me.
Oh, I'm scarred of minorities? Is that your position. I guess the past 18 years I've lived in a city that is 80% Hispanic has made me "scared of minorities". I must have had a really traumatic childhood with all those MEXICANS everywhere. When I move to Chicago in 2 months I'll REALLY be fucked. You are scared of Minorities arent you?

Guartz, sometimes you post some gems. These are the times I love you. Sometimes I want to smash your head in with a crockpot, but this isn't one of them. Carry on.
What is "the rape card"?
Rape isn't a particularly ambiguous, open to interpretation situation here. Do you find people getting accused of rape fairly frequently? Beyond Kobe and Ben - what is that, over a year and a half, I can't think of any high profile instances.
Chicks get raped -all the fucking time-. What we hear about is a tiny sliver of the cases.
There are some situations were girls will play "the rape card" to escape additional trouble themselves.
For instance, ND has some really retarded on-campus rules regarding sex and curfews in the dorms (for opposite-sex visits) that are often broken. The penalties can go all the way up to expulsion if they want and you have to sign a contract to this affect before your freshmen year (not making this up).
I know of more than one case where a girl got caught either being in a guys room after hours (or vise-versa) or had someone suspicious of sexual activity and have cried rape to try and dodge punishment. While the case may not stick, it ends up being utter hell on the guy when he gets that surprise notification and has to go through an investigation.
Aside from ND, I know of another case were a family friend got accused of rape in high school because a girl was about to get in severe trouble with her parents for not coming home one night. The guy nearly lost a full-ride football scholarship over it.
I think that is more meant by "the rape card" in these situations (not the possible gold-digging/high-profile ones). My guess would be is that they feel it could get them to avoid some trouble and they know the case won't stick to the guy so all is well.
And this is all really a complete disservice to actual rape victims too and doesn't help with the crimes being reported when they do happen.
