Actually first he got irritated because he had just gotten off an international flight and came home to his door being swollen shut. Then he had a cop show up (doing his job) asking to enter his house, then question his identity and whether he even lived in his own home. Then he got angry and lost control, and took the shouting match into the street where it could be considered disorderly conduct. Then, after he was held in police custody for four hours before being released, went home and blogged about it. That's when Gates brought race into it.

Cmon dude if you're gonna attack someone, at least get the facts straight.

I'm going by what the police said in their report.

His side of the story was that he has some Chinese infection and couldn't yell. However, the picture posted clearly shows him yelling. Therefore, unless I am proven wrong, he has lost all credibility as it applies to this incidence.

According to the police, he refused.

Again, not according to the police report.

He played the race card almost immediately.

    "race"

lol Jesus Christ lief you made my day. Racism doesn't exist guys nothing to see here.

Oh, I'm scarred of minorities? Is that your position. I guess the past 18 years I've lived in a city that is 80% Hispanic has made me "scared of minorities". I must have had a really traumatic childhood with all those MEXICANS everywhere. When I move to Chicago in 2 months I'll REALLY be fucked.

    Please. Move on.
    Is this the lame attempt at the "I can't be a ( ) because I know/live around some ( )" card?

Seriously, why is everything about race? You talk like every "race" is on a team competing for the presidential nomination. You talk like every "race" has their own values that only they can promote. You talk like nobody outside of a "race" can help anyone outside of his or her "race".
Go to an inner city neighborhood then back to your lilly white suburb and tell me there isn't a gap in equality when it comes to housing and education. Who votes on funding for education and appropriations to school districts? that is right the politicians do.

Minorites get a lot of shit from white people for playing the victim card when whites do it just as often in response to it. don't be naive

Based on your own testimony it has more to do with circumstances and money than race.

Why concede defeat then try to blast me as a racist?

No, it was a successful attempt at showing that in my mind, there is more than skin color that qualifies someone as disadvantaged. It doesn't make sense to give free bonuses to minorities instead of free bonuses to the poor. They are completely two different things. If someone really is disadvantaged, I don't have much of a problem ensuring they have opportunities to thrive. But you don't determine something like this based on skin color.

No. because as I said Politicians vote for how money is to be distributed in school districts which is why I think its imperative for there to be more minorities in congress. It's pretty insulting for you to be here and say race is no longer a disadvantage when it comes to things. It shows that you're not in touch with reality.

Minorities? What does race have to do with how one gives out money?

Race is not a disadvantage. Poor economic conditions that are somewhat correlated with race is a disadvantage. They are not one and the same.

Barack Obama didn't "overcome a race barrier". He got a free pair of wings and flew right over it. His kids get the same advantage. [NOTE: This is not an Obama attack. I am only attempting to show how ineffective policies that consider race are] Colin Powell flew right over. So did Condoleeza Rice, Sonia Sotomayor, Clarence Thomas.

Half of those people came from good homes. They didn't need racial politics to make them succeed.

What is wrong with helping the people who need help regardless of race?

Can you name me five white politicians/public figures that came from same circumstances as the ones you just named?

None of those people were street thugs-turned-politicians. That qualifies a lot of politicians...

And what, exactly, is your point? To prove its all about race instead of circumstances?

The overall point is: People who need help should get help. People who are lacking in opportunity should be given a chance to succeed.

Nothing has less to do with race.

Specify the qualifications. And what does this have to do with anything?

The point in listing those names is to show that these people did not need the help they received anyways, showcasing how ineffective race is as a factor.

I could copy and paste a whole list of congress, take out the ones from oil families and the Kennedys, and be left with a list of people who came from backgrounds just as fair as that group.

Do me a favor and look up Institutionalized racism for me if you would please

Edit: That's my fucking point the help wasn't there nor was the opportunity.

Done. It exists in universities, companies, corporations, and governments. Asians feel the heat more than any other "group".

please clarify so I don't think you're honestly going to make the "model minority" argument here

    What?

The only institutionalized racism is against Asians and perhaps slightly against whites. Quite simply, every government/university/corportation craves blacks, hispanics, native americans, etc.

As far as institutionalized racism in those places, the argument for being racist against blacks and hispanics simply doesn't fly.

You can make the argument that blacks and hispanics may be discriminated against more in general, but you asked about institutionalized racism. Blacks and hispanics are not disadvantaged there in any way. Deal with it.
