Honestly there are only a couple american fighters that i care about and NO they are not modeled after chack liddel. Ever since the PrideFC collapse we are getting to witness some of the greatest matchups of all time.

Would be even better if Wanderlei didnt go full retard on us and was the same fighter he was during MOST of his pride career.

Dana has always been a critic of the scoring system, unfortunately for Shogun, when a fight's that close and goes to a decision there'll always be a natural bias towards the champion. Hopefully this won't be the case come UFC 113.

Liddel style lolwut indeed. LHW is what excites me the most in UFC. Sooo much fucking talent (and untalented) that we will always have exciting title fights and fighters working their way up.

Its the sheer number of non-Liddel's out there that keep it interesting.

The only thing keeping the LHW division exciting is Lyoto with the belt, otherwise, Silva would be tearing that division up too.

Chuck made the 100% standup, and use your wrestling background as a defensive tool pretty famous. I assumed people would figure out what I was talking about. Obviously these guys didn't "copy" Chuck, but their styles are similar, and Chuck made it famous. It was just easier to say... Until I had to explain it just now.

I sort of agree with what you're saying about the LHW division, and how most fighters are sprawl-'n'-brawlers. Although they all have different styles, most of the fights *are* stand-up wars... For example, Sherdog's top 10 LHWs Lyoto, Shogun, Forrest, Rampage, Gegard, Thiago, Luis, and Franklin all prefer the to stand. Even Rashad (except his last fight)and lil' Nog are known to stand as well.

The reason I sort of disagree with your statement is that, even though these fighters all prefer to stand, each one of them has the capacity to take the fight in different directions (clinch game, take downs, ground and pound, etc.). This is what makes MMA as awesome as it is, because each of these fighters are evolving to incorporate all these different styles. Essentially, this is what makes these fighters better than Chuck could ever be, and sets them apart from his old-fashioned ways.

Oh, I definately agree that all the fighters in the division have more to their game then just bangin'. There's no question about it. It's just they normally choose not to, which I believe is because of Chucks influence.

Anyway, I just like the LW, WW, MW divisions better. And the HW division has my boy big Nog. Maybe lil Nog joining will mix the LHWs up a bit.

I think the LW, WW, MW divisions are going to be really exciting divisions in the next year or so. Everyone is going to be training to an extreme to defeat one another in an attempt to defeat such ridiculously talented champions. Like what someone else said, the only thing keeping the LHW division even relevant is Lyoto being good friends with Silva.

How about wanderlei's influence. Chuck had minimal impact in MMA worldwide due to pride being the dominant org during chuck's reign.

Wanderlai's impact was nothing compared to Chuck's in North America. Five years ago, most fans had absolutely no idea who Wanderlai was.

In North America. North America did not become relevant in the field of MMA until Pride collapsed. When we speak of NA we of course are speaking about the UFC.
