Rosenthal did a great job not stopping the fight because Brock wasn't really getting hit with most of the big shots on the ground. He would turn and throw a punch or two back for every 5 that Shane threw at his arms and that let the ref know he was aware and he was defending himself. I think Brock should've tried to improve his position earlier than he did, but w/e. I was happy for him after the win because I think that was the most genuine moment of happiness we've seen from him. When he came out for the second round and he was smiling and wanting to high five Carwin...that was awesome. I think he grew as a fighter last night and found a love of fighting that he may not have had before.
I think he liked the competition carwin gave him without talking a lot of shit. I hope HW won't turn into MW, in the sense that there are few challenging contenders for the title.

    Awesome fights last night.

It's too bad Carwin couldn't calm himself and look for an opening instead of punching Lesnar's giant forearms as hard as he could.

If he had not punched himself out I have no doubt he could have finished it in the second round, but once he was too tired to defend the takedown it was all Lesnar.

I also liked how Lesnar came out in the second round with a smile and tapped Carwin's hand. I guess and takes a few punches to the face to earn his respect.

Who do you think they will give Leban next? I know Joe Rogan said Leban, "Will get Wanderlei" but I don't take anything he says too seriously, he was probably stoned that whole night...he sure sounded like it.

I don't see why it wouldn't be Wanderlei.

Wand's knee and ribs are really fucked up atm. Might be a while before all the surgery is done with, and everything is all healed up.

And yeah, there's a lot of angry douchebags on Sherdog. People need to learn to just sit back and enjoy some good fights.

Sorry if this has been posted already as I just lurk around this thread every once in a while. I've never understood the hype about Fedor, and this series hits the nail on the head as to why.

I'm far from an expert though, and these videos are from a biased point of view. So is there something I'm missing?

Going undefeated for a decade in a sport where even lesser competition has a chance to get a fluke win has a lot to do with it. Those fluke losses almost did occur to him when fujita rocked him and randleman slammed him onto his neck. The fact that he seemed unfazed by the adversity that many others crumble to just helped build the mythos around him. Even if he isn't the best heavyweight in the world he is still probably top 5 which is nothing to belittle, especially considering he is a chubby 205 pounder.

Excluding his last fight, Fedor is normally the smartest guy in the ring/cage. Fight smart that is. He just sees things happen multiple steps ahead, and is generally just very aware of what's happening around him. Not ever fighter has this, many just kind of react to the situation at hand. He's also very well rounded for a heavyweight.

That said, people that claim he's the closest thing to MMA God are highly irritating. He has weaknesses, like every other fighter.

I think he matches up with Lesnar as well. He's got the clear stand up advantage, and I think his guard is good enough to be dangerous from the bottom. Which in turn, will lead to more stand up... Not that it matters, since I don't think he'll ever be in the UFC.

Coker loves to give titleshots to guys that just lost. I suppose it has to happen though. I've heard this is Fedor's last fight on his contract... And he may not sign another.

Fair enough. I just have more respect for fighters that will take a few losses fighting the toughest opponents they can instead of going perfect with a lot of scrubs on their record.

It's just difficult to ignore the fact that his "toughest," opponents got obliterated when they stepped into the UFC.

He also declined the most lucrative contract in UFC history to fight Lesnar.

He wouldn't fight Overeem, the HW champion in his organization.

I mean, it just goes on and on. I look at all this stuff and go "seriously?"

I just don't get it, lol.

Well depending on who you believe him not joining the UFC was because of his management trying to preserve his "mythical" status, which is obviously gone now. And since Dana White has said he has no interest in Fedor anymore, that door is closed now.

Yeah, that's kinda' my point. How mythical is it when you stay undefeated by dodging tough opponents, lol.

Would have been way cooler to see his first loss come against someone like Carwin or Lesnar imo.

Edit: By that, I mean it would have done more for his legacy if he lost to Lesnar I would think. The passing of the torch so to speak between arguably one of the greatest fighters of all time to the fighter that has the potential to take that crown.

Fedor was supposed to fight Barnett last year, which imo, Josh would have won the fight... Not that it matters now, since he'll never fight in North America ever again.

There are a lot of guys outside the UFC that are good.

To be fair, it's not like Fedor was fighting in the UFC while Pride had all the best Heavyweights.

@ Rhyis - Yeah, and Barnett was widely regarded as the #2 Heavyweight in the world when that fight got shitcanned. It's not Fedor's fault that Barnett can't stay off roids (although I do want to see him fighting more now)

Barnett is the best/most talented irrelevant fighter on the planet. You can take that quote to the bank.

Barnett always pisses me off because he can't piss clean two tests straight...but he is a good fighter. To be fair to Fedor, he fought all the top heavyweights when he was in Pride. Since Pride though, it seems like his management has stepped in and controlled his life. It also isn't his fault that his fights against Arlovski and Tim Silvia weren't the greatest either because those guys were UFC champs not long before he fought them. Granted, they were on a very fast downslide...but that's not his fault. His management should be blamed for not signing with the UFC when they could have and having him fight the best.

Scott Coker never ceases to amaze me with showing how ridiculous their belts are. Nobody wants them. They have the stupid champions clause built into all their contracts where if your the champ you have to keep defending the belt, regardless if your contract is up or not. You are the minor leagues bud...no offense to Strikeforce....that means that people who are your champs are going to be courted by the UFC and then you are stifling their growth and future by locking them to you. How many people has the UFC signed off of a loss? Not many. If you never lose...you can never leave. I think all my fights in Strikeforce would be non-title if I were there.

If the turnaround is that fast that would be amazing. Keeps Cain from being out too long and gives them both more cage time which is great for young fighters like them.

It seems like the JDS vs Roy Nelson fight will be for the title shot after Cain.

That'd be awesome. There's a lot of questions in the HW division right now, so the faster these fights happen the better.
