FNH is Matt Hughes in disguise. I have no doubt about this.
Man, seeing how this fight went about, Belfort might take it. This fights been long overdue anyways.
that was incredible. as soon as i saw sonnen letting anderson have guard with his legs up high at that fifth round I knew that something was going to happen. sonnen basically either got tired or complacent at the end thinking he had it locked and allowed anderson to sink in the submission. really sick fight and i hope to see a rematch because it will be interesting to see a fight where anderson can actually stop at least one takedown lol.
Your avatar has a Sherdog logo on it. More then enough evidence to show who's doing the nuthugging in this thread.
They way these guys train, they are conditioned to tap while training to prevent injury. In competition it is hard to suppress the reflex to tap and it should clearly be that the ref waits to see multiple taps to stop a fight. I competed in Judo and tae Kwon Do but in Judo it was two or more taps or it wasn't a tap out. Just slapping your hand on down once on an opponents body did not count as a tap out, because it's a conditioned reflex you are fighting.
So what do people think now about a gsp vs anderson fight. I'm even more confident now that GSP can ride out top position dominance to win a UD. The real danger in this fight comes in the first seconds of the round before a TD, and GSP being submitted from bottom is very unlikely.
Even with that said I would probably favour Anderson by a slight margin.

PS: laziness of not taking out a sherdog logo from a google image doesn't mean jack. Also, I was talking about me rooting for Vitor.
that would probably be good to see, but a lot of the time the 'single tap' comes from the feeling of inevitability and people who are actually meaning to tap and are pissed off that they have to do it because in a few seconds they are going to sleep. the many taps is often a pain tap from the urgency of the situation
did you watch the fight after the 4th?
What the fuck are we even talking about anymore lol. This is MMA, submissions happen all the time, yes, Sonnen was dominating but he lost. :dealwithit.jpg:
Back on topic, I'm even more confident now that GSP would beat Silva given time to properly bulk up. Silva would basically have to finish the fight before a TD because I don't see GSP getting caught from a sub while he's in dominant position.
problem is if you don't stop a fight as soon as you see a person tapping you are going to risk a huge amount of injuries. maybe not in that fight but how about a really well sunk armbar and the ref waits to see if the victim taps more than 2 times meanwhile the guy pulls even harder breaking his arm completely. To me a tap is a tap regardless of conditioning. yeah it sucks if you tap too early but hey, mma is not the only thing in life where you can get fucked over because of a small mind slip. There are no second chances besides the opportunity for a rematch. imo that was a tap and the fight should have been stopped.
so, does anyone know what the deal was with the sub being held on for a long time? It seems like Chael wasn't aware the ref was there but since andersons back was to us I can't tell if he knew the fight was being stopped because he continued to pull on the arm and Chael had to tap a couple more times.
