there is a training video of fedor just throwing him around for like 5 minutes. facial expression just never changes. when he came out to the cage tonight i thought he was gonna fall asleep

Liked the Mousasi fight...he's such a robot it's awesome. Carano went about how I expected, not great for female MMA as Cyborg isn't as marketable. It wasn't a bad show overall. I probably won't subscribe to showtime just for this though, I'll just catch 'em online.

Carano got pinned to the cage and was still guarding herself when the ref stopped the fight with 1 second left. Would have loved to see another round. Carano was clearly outmatched strength wise, but she seemed to have superior technique on takedowns, as she ended up on top despite being the one taken down on a couple of occasions.

When fighters cover like that it's basically a way to give up but save face by not tapping which can be viewed as weak when it's against strikes. I think the takedowns from cyborg were all power, low technique and she wasn't able to get enough rotation on them to flip gina around, more cyborgs fault than gina's skills I think. Gina just looked quite slow in comparison when it came to moving around on the ground and standing back up, no real explosive movements which let her get caught in transition and off balance for a bit afterward. I was quite surprised with how easily cyborg could essentially push gina over by pressing on her upper body and gina would essentially tip over.

Cyborg displayed the worst takedowns in the history of MMA tonight, and still completely dominated Carano. I have to admit, I was screaming at the TV "Hit her in the face!" because I've developed an irrational hatred for Gina, but still. Gina's only exceptional technique, it seems, is turtle-ing.

I would lul if Cyborg is the "Women's 145-lb champion" (like they're really going to make another weight class anytime soon) for the next 10 years.

Agreed. Definitely did not come anywhere close to living up to the hype of the billing. I was never really all that sold on Carano as a fighter to begin. I would hit it in a heartbeat, but getting up from full mount is one of the dumber things I've seen in recent memory.

I am a big fan of female MMA, but I don't think it has come far enough to be main eventing a show yet. If for no other reason than there is no follow up to keep the viewers that tuned in because of that. That was the only big female fight in the entire business.

Hell yeah FNH, I love watching Fedor training vids like that. He is such a freak the way he throws people around. It just shows what kind of real strength he has despite looking a bit doughy.

My second week of training and I am down from 220 to 190...so maybe 155 is in the realm of possibility. Maybe we can both make the show, Jyakku, and start Team BG-General. I will probably stick to 170, I haven't been 155 since I was in middle school.

Had a discussion with friends of mine.

"Would you fight (Cyborg or Carano) on national TV, if there was $100,000 on the line if you won and nothing if you lost."

Both of them were pretty damn hesitant - they saw it, despite the $100,000, as a lose-lose situation. They both have pretty good jobs though and $100,000 isn't life-changing money for them.

I'd do it in a second (obviously picking Carano as my opponent if I had a choice).
