I don't see why anyone would be against a GSP/Shields title bout either if he were to beat Kampmann. Unless people want another GSP manhandling of Fitch, Shields is a perfectly logical choice. Having said that, this is going to be one of those rare fights in the WW division where its probably going to stay standing at the will of GSP.

If you aren't a fan of GSP taking people down constantly maybe you would enjoy this awesome idea to eliminate lnp from sherdog.

We all agree that Lay N Pray is ruining UFC of course, but what to do about it? I have an idea for Dana White: allow referee's to make trouble for those who try and LnP. I'm not talking about deducting points, because you can't really tell when to do that, but rather the ref should come in and start to push the guy who is laying around a bit so that he loses position. If he won't move he can give a few palm strikes, but no punches or submissions or anything like that.

ex: GSP is LnPing on Dan Hardy. Ref comes in without stopping action and moves GSPs legs around so he loses his grounding and hardy can sweep. Only do this if true LnP tho.

Also ref should trip up or kick people's legs if they try and wall n stall

    thoughts?

So, watch round 2 of the McSweeney vs Maldonado fight
    http://www.mma-core.com/videos/_UFC_...013561&tid=100

and tell me how this is possible
    http://desmond.yfrog.com/Himg257/sca...=640&ysize=640
yes, that's round 2 for McSweeney by all 3 judges when it was a borderline 10-8 round for Maldonado

Yeah, I really don't think Shields has the right style for GSP. People with similiar grappling tend to cancel each other out, and then it's just a stand up game.

As for the McSweeney round. Getting punched repeatedly is actually a good thing for you. It's tiring your opponent out, which will leave him open for strikes of your own. Totally logical.

    ^ not even going there.

Bringing back up how awesome Hominick is: "Hominick is coming off a masterful performance against Leonard Garcia at WEC 51 in September, a fight that “The Machine” went into with a broken hand. He received a six-month medical suspension from the Colorado Office of Boxing following the bout. Though a date in January would contradict that suspension, Hominick may be cleared to fight earlier if he passes an X-ray exam." via Sherdog

UFC 123 has Hughes vs. Penn.

I wonder if B.J. will be fighting or just showing up to receive his paycheck.

Last night's TUF was the best of the season, especially if you like hating Koscheck. First, Koscheck's team were acting like douches after getting their first win of the season. Then Koscheck and Marc Stevens, his number one pick, were so cocky about the upcoming match with the last pick, Cody. They are, like, Cody sucks at everything but he's 11-0 and all wins were by guillotine choke so we can't ignore it. So all through the prep before the match they kept repeating "Remember the game plan: don't get caught in the guillotine."

At the start of the match, Marc signals over to Cody if he wants to touch gloves at the start. Cody shakes his head. I'm like pumped at this point cuz I knew what was going to happen next. Ding goes the bell, March shoots in for a takedown about 20 seconds in and 10 seconds later he's passed out from, you guessed it, a guillotine choke. Hilarious.

On a side note, that modified choke of Cody's is pretty sweet. He can get that thing off at almost any angle as he has shown twice so far this season. However, I wonder if people can pull off the hands since he's not exactly squeezing the artery with his hands, more like pressing on it. Have any of you MMA practitioners ever tried it out?

    Hardy's chin; not so helluva.

Other things we learned this Saturday:

Brits need to learn functional MMA wrasslin. Hathaway is an extremely skilled young fighter and a gifted athlete but when you're looking at Fitch, GSP, Kos, and now Shields at the top of the division you better learn some defensive grappling in a hurry.

Akiyama is doing his best to dethrone Penn as the biggest waste of talent in MMA. Won't get his cardio anywhere near where it needs to be, won't utilize his judo in fights, won't refine his standup beyond throwing haymakers.

Bisping is a prick but a skilled fighter and if he could ever get some power into his standup he'd be a great one.

Hardy's hook was about 4 inches too deep into the head to expect a knockout from that shot.

Condit's, however, was right on the button.

After the first episode I tried it on a training partner. It works...really well. The guy passed out after 15 seconds, no chance to even tap. It is much more effective than a normal guillotine because I can sit in a fully tightened guillo for a long time. Most guys will sit in the guillo for a little while because it's not a really dangerous choke...this thing is more like a rear naked, just from the front. We all know we can't let someone hold a rear-naked choke for very long because you'll go to sleep...once guys realize that about this choke, you won't see guys getting caught so much. His hand grip isn't that great either and could be pulled off pretty easy, but that can be modified.
