true, Condit's placement was picture perfect, but Hardy's best punch has always been the lead-hook and Condit shrugged off a flush one that connected to the base of his jaw.

That's what I was thinking when I saw him do that choke. It seems like it lacks the grip strength other ones have but it balances that with more offense.

I think more people should work on signature submissions that they can develop many different ways to set up and execute rather and spend a bit less time on working on other submissions. They should obviously still train other subs but having that 'knockout punch' in grappling terms seems pretty beneficial.

I agree 100%. I work sub defense on everything...but train specific things that pop up often in the usual situations. I have about 15 ways to get to an anaconda choke and tap people out with it all day in practice. I love the hold. I work on it constantly. I have a wrestling base and a good sprawl...so I feel confident in it when someone shoots in on me in particular. I think people should find a sub that fits their personal strengths and train the shit out of it. Brock using the arm triangle is a perfect example. With his wrestling and insane upper body strength, I think that is the perfect sub for him.

Have you ever tried the Shultz front headlock that Hughes used to sub Almeida. It seems like one of those subs that are particularily good because of their rarity and many people wouldn't know how to defend it as well.

I used to use it when I wrestled a lot...it's pretty common in wrestling. I honestly haven't tried it in MMA though. May try it and see how it feels...it takes a lot of forearm strength, which is good for people like Hughes and I who have popeye forearms.

So the guy sees his opponent reach down for his foot and his reaction is to cover up his head?

I think it worked because his opponent leaned forward to grab him which put all his weight on the front foot that he no longer had control of lol

So I guess Huerta can start up that acting/modeling career. Well after his face gets back to normal after that beatdown.

Huerta needs to have a bitch battered in front of him to unleash the fury.

that is really awesome. He doesn't pull the foot forward or try to power the leg up, just lifts the heel and turns the guy at a 90 degree angle. Weight over the front leg = when the guy turns, he has no where to go but the floor, hence getting dumped to the side rather than backwards. Pretty fucking cool.
