My ex-wife was a BJJ Black belt. She was also in the army and in phenomenal shape. I have seen her tap out guys left and right in training...both her size and some bigger. She could tear people up in grappling matches that didn't have much skill, but even with only a blue belt's knowledge I could overpower her and tap her fairly consistently.

Of course, in grappling matches they weren't punching her in the face - objectives and strategy are different when you don't have to worry about being struck. I wouldn't expect to be able to submit either woman (or your ex-wife, for example) I don't know dick about joint locks or chokes beyond the regular MMA-fan knowledge - but at the same time I don't think either Carano or Cyborg is particularly capable of submissions either.

My sister is a buff army chick who is actually my weight, and I can throw her shit around like nothing. Carano and Cyborg would probably beat her ass, but I just see the gender and size inequalities being so great that it wouldn't really matter what their training is, at least for these two in what I've seen so far.

In other news, it looks like Fedor will not be getting Ricco...probably going to be Werdum. I hope they don't think I'm paying for that shit. I like Werdum, awesome BJJ at heavyweight is rare...but with Fedor it's not really fair. Arlovski beat him like a drum, I can't imagine Fedor is going to be nicer.

strikeforce could put together a good PPV card if they pulled out all the stops. thompson vs melendez, shields vs jacare, werdum vs fedor, mousasi vs two guys at once because strikeforces 205s are GOD AWFUL, and overeem vs rogers? - but i feel like whoever loses that fight would no longer be viable in the building up of fedor, strikeforce's stable of heavies is kind of trash.

and then of course they still have diaz, lawler, and female fighters, all of which have a bit of drawing power

if they are doing the fighter exchanges with Dream they could bring in guys like mayhem and Sokoudjou. im guessing yamamoto and aoki would never fight in america because they are punk bitches. is eddie alvarez still with dream? i know he won bellator, he needs more american exposure asap. plus dream has that random russian who's name i dont know with all the head kicks, along with jason high and melvin manhoef

I think kid wants to go stateside to fight and aoki always talks about fighting top american fighters but only references ufc guys. Since alvarez won the bellator tourny I think he is exclusive with them, I think he was going to have a fight with another org but had to cancel it due to bellator. The head kicking guy I think you mean is Zaromskis but he is with sengoku, he may have an open contract so you could see him in strikeforce but it won't be as easy since they don't have a sharing fighter deal in place.

I agree to a point. Women just aren't built to get punched in the face...bone structure isn't the same. We are built to fight and it's easier for us. We are naturally stronger and faster, they're usually more flexible and that's why BJJ is such an easy transition for them and they can compete at a high level.

To that point though, there are a LOT of guys who hit the panic button after being punched. I have sparred with a ton of guys who were unreal on the bags, mits, mats...but just become a different person when punched or showed any aggression towards. Like the god of war himself, Mike Tyson, said..."Everyone has a gameplan 'till they get hit in the face."

Nick Diaz on his last legs with Strikeforce/Showtime - Cagewriter - Mixed Martial Arts - Yahoo! Sports

Fight fans may not think it's a big deal. Clearly Nick Diaz didn't think it was big deal when he forced Strikeforce/Showtime to dump him from Saturday's card because he refused to show for a California State Athletic Commission administered prefight drug test. But the promotion and the network sounded like they were livid with Diaz and his flaky ways.

Showtime's VP of Sports Ken Hershman pulled no punches in saying Diaz is close to making himself a non-factor as a main event fighter with the network (2:30 mark):

"You gotta be able to show up and if you can't and you're not reliable then who can count on you and where are you going to go with your career?"

Hershman says this needs to be a wakeup call for Diaz and his camp:

"Either you're going to do it right or not do it at all. You only get one or two shots at that and then it's done. I don't see how I can promote and spends hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars promoting somebody who's not going to show up. It's just bad business."

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker didn't pull any punches either (0:50 mark):

"We can support him and get him licensed but if Showtime gets to that point where they're done, then it might be a tough road."

Coker also said don't get too worked about Diaz signing a boxing promotional deal. It's simply an option to box after his MMA career or Strikeforce is done. Diaz's contract runs through next December and Strikeforce holds on the deal as well.

During the postfight press conference, Coker openly spoke about his desire to matchup Jay Hieron against Diaz for the Strikeforce welterweight title. He sounded optomistic that Diaz fights were still promotable but it may be all over with Showtime if another stunt arises.

You know it's bad when your own promotion is talking shit on you. And is it me or in that Renato gif did it look like he was already dead? Lights were on, nobody was home.
