I want to pick kid but I just don't know if his recent mediocre performances is due to him not being motivated (something that shouldn't be an issue for his ufc debut) or if he just that great of a fighter anymore. I'm betting on the latter option so Demetrious should be good enough to win a decision.
Anderson Silva actually looks motivated for this fight lol.
The backstory between him and vitor is pretty intense.
Well, more from Anderson being bitter about vitor's popularity. ( not really unduly ).
Vitors sister was kidnapped and killed though, tough not to root for the guy either.
Yeah I heard the story behind the actual death of his sister is even more fucked up, that really sucks. I bet he really can't stop blaming himself because of the popularity he received, I would be pretty horrified. That being said I hope he comes into the fight looking as pumped as he and Anderson did at the weigh ins.
Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort - Gonna be a lot more ground game then people are predicting

As to Woozie. I've never done BJJ, but I did Judo for a number of years. And for a true beginner to any grappling art, I recommend trying Judo first. I've heard from people that BJJ is rough as hell to get into right away, Judo I found very fluid to learn. The pacing is just simpler to learn for somebody new to grappling. Plus you'll learn most of the same "cool" submissions, minus a few. The armbar, for instance, is straight up Judo (it's just not called an armbar).
Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort
Forrest Griffin vs. Rich Franklin
Ryan Bader vs. Jon Jones

Miguel Torres vs. Antonio Banuelos
Bader by knockout, upset of the night.
may be reading too much into a word but the best bit of advice i ever received in regards to rolling, the sooner you get out of the winner-loser mentality in the gym the better training will go. the point of any academy rolling is solely to improve your game.
it's pretty difficult, i used to get frustrated/fucking heated when i was controlled by a less experienced but larger guy even after i had been training for months and months, but that ego has got to go or it will slow down your progression. you'll start only hitting moves you excel at, always fighting for the positions you feel comfortable in, neglecting large aspects of your game because trying them out causes you to "lose" in training.
good on you for training and welcome to the BJJ family, you'll be hitting omoplata sweeps in no time ^__________^

We have Judo training here too. My first day just happen to be BJJ day. Today was my third day, kickboxing. I felt right at home with my boxing and TKD background but my shoulder popped out of socket midfight (I'm "double jointed", so that's actually somewhat common for me. In fact, if anyone has any tips on what a "double jointed" person should do to avoid this, it would be very welcome. It's a huge disadvantage in striking but people seem to have a really hard time submitting me without going after my neck. But my coaches say it makes me more prone to injury because I don't start feeling pain until my joints are almost broken, so it may even be a disadvantage on the ground).
Losing didn't bother me at all whatsoever. It was actually pretty fun rolling for the first time. You learn a lot by getting beaten, especially when you're new.
Also, any tips on how to reconcile my bodybuilding schedule with MMA training? I was already exhausted from sparring by the time I went to the gym today and now I'm worried that I wont be able to workout to the fullest anymore because of the MMA training pre-exhausting me. Should I do one early in the morning and one way at night? Should one always come before the other? Will I be okay to train MMA while my muscles are still sore from a previous workout? Am I at risk of overtraining? Overtraining and/or injury is what I'm most worried about, to be honest. I'm not used to working out with sore muscles.
When I boxed and did TKD before, I cut down on the weightlifting big time, but I don't want to do that this time if I can avoid it.
How often are you lifting? Overtraining is a big concern, especially initially before your body becomes acclimated to the demands of grappling which takes about two/three months of consistent training.
But in general two-a-days are fine, every guy I know who does it does weights in the morning, training in the evening, with a good meal and lots of water and ideally a nap in between the two.
Personally I train back-to-back kickboxing + BJJ which combined go for 2 1/2-3 hours 4 times a week, do weight training once a week, and cardio training once a week with a day of rest. The three hour training sessions leave me too sore for two-a-days but if you're only training for an hour or something or are a more manly man than me you'll be fine. Wouldn't go past lifting three times a week at the absolute max initially though.
Most important thing is just to listen to your body, sleep as much as you can, drink more water than you think you need, take fish oil supplements for reduction in muscle inflammation and drink a gallon of milk a week so nothing breaks. Take it easier then you normally would for the first couple months then ramp it up as you see fit, lotta guys get injured right off the bat by going too hard too fast.
