Good for him to retire tonight, I hope he sticks with it. That long layoff with little to no competition really hurt Fedor. No matter what his management did, I always got the impression he was a genuinely nice guy.

Yep, that's what I was thinking too lol. But on the plus side strikeforce probably doesn't have to share a ton of their future profits with M1 anymore.

Fedor has been a joke for awhile now, refusing to fight anybody but freak shows, washed up fighters or untested "prospects" for 5+ years. Screw him and M1 Global. If he actually is retiring, I'll be so happy to not have to hear about his overrated ass ever again.

Fedor just got exposed as another Pride era fighter who needs to hang up their gloves. As much as we love them we need to realize these guys are long past their prime. Fedor fans took a bit longer to realize that because M-1 made it part of their corporate policy to duck any serious competition. And come the fuck on with the "OMG FEDOR WUZ GONNA FIGHT BARNETT!" The fight never happened, for all we know Barnett would've owned his ass and none of us would have been having this conversation to begin with.

Barnett wasn't anywhere near #2, and has been popped for roiding twice now at least.

At the time, Barnett was considered #2 by many publications.

Obviously like many fighters he uses/used roids (and is terrible at it) but the facts at the time are what they are. He was very highly regarded and Fedor accepted a fight.

It's not like Barnett has been exposed since then, I'm curious to see how he'll do in the tourney.

I hate M-1 as much as the next guy, but Timmy and AA were both legit opponents when he fought them. You'd have to be pretty insane to think otherwise.

Nothing against you Archi but the "many fighters" as of now are the only fighters caught using steroids. Speculation is a bitch and its best left to Shertards.

I said it before and I'll say it again, the matchmaking for the GP made sense from "an eventual progression for the title point of a view." The fact the title isn't on the line, nevermind the fact it's a tournament, and you seeded up all your best fighters on one side is retarded as fuck lol. It's something that obviously shows an M-1 style influence on what should happen, more then likely the only reason Fedor agreed to this GP.

Strikeforce is once again, caught with it's pants down betting all its chips on a specific fighter winning.

...I dunno about you, but a Bigfoot/Overeem fight I'm definitely interested in, as well as any Barnett fight. Fedor losing doesn't kill my interest in this tourney.

Seems like speculation on your part there.

The side of the tournament he was on put results in a likely overeem fight on just the second fight. I don't see why M1 would demand something where the tournament favourite has to be fought so quickly.

Speculation? It's pretty fucking obvious M-1 wanted Fedor to either avenge his loss to Werdum or to either beat/lose to Werdum/Overeem in a grand-exit style bout. Thus the creation of said brackets.

I respect Fedor for his Pride days, don't get me wrong. M1 made him look like a greedy sack of shit and tainted every mention of him from here on out. I'll give you AA was still close to legit when they fought, but Sylvia had lost 2 of 3 and looked flabby and out of shape.
