It is possible. I've seen guys go through a big adrenaline dump and be gassed a minute or two into the fight. Adrenaline has a way of completely killing you, which is why fighters train so hard to not let emotions rule them in the ring. It is why a lot of guys have trouble their first few "big" fights in front of tons of people or on tv...you just can't control it sometimes and end up exhausting yourself very early on.

They announced Keith Jardine will be stepping in on a week notice to fight Gegard Mousasi for Strikeforce. I don't think this is going to go well for Jardine, but the level of competition could have been much weaker on a week's notice, so kudos to Strikeforce for making it happen.

I've been thinking for a while that gayhard is overrated, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Jardine decisioned him.

i know one of brock lesnar's trainers; he told me brock did not follow the gameplan at ALL.

i think brock is one of the most overrated fighters in history and i'm not a fan of his at all... but to be honest i'd put my money on him against junior dos santos. i just don't see jds being able to maintain the proper distance to neutralize brock's takedowns for the whole fight... brock WILL take jds down at some point, at which point i think he's screwed.

I agree. JSD had problems finishing Nelson, but that was more about Nelson being awesome?

Gegard has all the tools it will take to beat jardine. What I mean by that is that Gegard has a left hand that can swing at Jardines weakpoint which is his right face area.

actually it's not 'most' it's 'half' - shane cawin was able to stuff a take down attempt, and both randy couture and cain velasquez were able to recover from being taken down. the connection? all three are decorated wrestlers, the other three and jds are not.

that being said jds is a black belt in bjj, but then so is frank mir. so jds will have some idea of what he's supposed to be doing on his back and he won't be helpless on his back like min soo kim was, but yeah i just don't see him fighting off a monster like lesnar. he's gotta keep the fight standing. if he can, then lesnar is 100% screwed.

I think JDS only recently got his brown belt. I don't see JDS stuffing many td's but I do see him being able to get up from them if he acts quickly before lesnar can establish a strong position.

In the Carwin fight he recovered greatly after taking a complete asswhooping for an entire round. He can take a hit, Carwin was 10+ 1st round ko/tkos before the lesnar fight.

I'll agree with you on the Cain aspect however. But I think it's more so that Brock didn't really expect Cain to be that much of a dominator in their fight.

Carwin was taken out cuz he went for that TKO and ended up winding himself, Brock just took advantage from there. Had Carwin played it right I think Lesnar would have lost easily.

In your original post you didn't specify UFC you said guys he's put down, which would include Min Soo Kim, which makes 6. So no, half is the right word, not most.

Well... then again I've heard of people giving people black belts in jiujitsu just on merit... so who knows. More the reason to doubt jds's chances on the ground.

JDS has been doing BJJ since college, and was a state JJ and submission champion. He's probably long overdo for his black belt.

Getting a BJJ blackbelt depends a hell of a lot on your instructor, some will make you wait years and years.
