As far as Punching power goes...Technique > Muscle imo.

Oh, without a doubt. But to say strength has nothing to do with power is ridiculous, imo

Take this picture for example. Same guy in all three: with the same technique, who'd have more power in their punches?

I'm going to go ahead and retract my earlier statement, and say that muscle is indeed a factor in punching power. Generally speaking of course, but if someone is skinny as fuck like Diaz, and you compare him to someone like Daley, the bigger, more muscular guy usually has more power. Sure, muscle =! power, but it absolutely makes a difference.

And Daley does have more power than Diaz, a lot more, but Diaz has solid musculature himself. Ignore the biceps and even the chest to some extent as they're useless except for stabilizing and look at his upper back, broad and well-developed for a skinny guy. He also has some of the finer punching technique in MMA, really torques into his power shots and establishes a great flow going from one side to the other.

Knockout artists like Hearns and Cyrille have the same long, skinny frame, it's not too uncommon. Placement and timing matter of course, but any way you slice it Diaz hits real hard and it's a combination of tech and having strength where it matters, shoulders and hips.

Also, Marquardt's possible cut to WW is probably more because of Rashad's possible cut to MW. To my knowledge, GSP works with his own camp more then Jackson's, while Marquardt and Evans are like best friends.

Nate used to be a WW so his skeletal structure can handle that size. He has the ability to lose some muscle and be fine I bet
