Sonnen and Okami wrestle differently so while sonnen could shoot from distance Okami had to get in range of strikes just to try to grind out a TD so the blueprint isn't that easy to follow.

People hear wrestler and instantly assume they have similar skill sets, but Okami has never had a tremendous double leg. Unlike Sonnen.

I don't think you can chalk this up to different wrestling styles. Okami trained with Sonnen for this fight for several months, if he wasn't conditioned on what exactly to do then it was bad habits that made him stand. That's the whole purpose of a training camp.

I don't think you try to re-mold a fighters style in 2-3 months of training. Sonnen knows all kinds of wrestling so he probably said 'ok, this is how you wrestle, let me give you some tips on that'. If Okami doesn't wrestle a certain way you don't want to start him from scratch on it before a big fight. Bad gameplan or not, shooting doubles isn't something you will see Okami do.

Point still stands. The whole purpose of a training camp is to develop a game-plan and eliminate any bad habits that might get you in trouble for the fight.

Lets just say that Okami has 70/100 TD's the way he does it and in the training camp he gets it to 80/100. If he trained doubles, which would work best on anderson, he would say start at a 30 (since he never does them he isn't very good at it) and training he gets it to a 50/100. Even if it's the better gameplan he could be worse off trying to learn doubles before the most important fight of his life.
