Penn used wrestling effectively on Fitch and if he decides to use it again he can avoid getting subbed or swept to win a decision. If they fight mostly standing I'm not sure, diaz always manages to wear an opponent down but 3 rounds may not be enough to do that to Penn. I think Penn has the advantage here but I'm not sure just how much.

It's hard to bet against Penn but me coming from the 209... I have to root for Diaz. I won't be surprised if he loses though, BJ is a very solid fighter, not to mention a living legend. I think Kongo has a lot of damn power but dude always ends up clinching and just pressuring opponents, I would love to see him stand up with Mitrione and hit him harder than he did backing up from Pat Barry. Cowboy... hard to be against the guy with the winning streak and all, if it goes to the ground Siver is screwed. Roy Nelson via K.O... because at this point a plastic bag floating in the wind could knock out cro cop.

Their contract was signed for 3 rounds so that's what it's going to be. Diaz wanted it to be 5 rounds when they became the main event but penn wanted more money to do that, which is understandable, but it didn't happen as far as I know.

Edgar and Diaz boxing styles are ridiculously different. Edgar goes in to throw a combination and he's right back out where as Diaz just stays in the pocket pawing at his opponent with his reach waiting to land a shot.

And as the boxers say speed kills and Edgar was the first fighter Penn fought that was faster than him.

Diaz is none of these things and does none of these things, dude rarely kicks, and is unable to take down any competent wrestler. He stands in front of you and throws relying on his pace + body work to wear you down and his chin + reach to protect him as he has limited defensive ability, not recommended against the guy Freddie Roach said had the best boxing in MMA.

On the point about Edgar being faster than Penn, I commend you because most people didn't realise thats why BJ didnt know wtf to do vs someone who was faster.
On the Diaz thing.

Paul Daley has a freakishly long reach for his weight class and yet Nick Diaz outstruck him and Daleys striking is vicious as anyones, Diaz is going to have a 4 inch+ reach advantage on BJ, and he hits deceptively hard.
Given bodyframes I don't see BJ taking Nick down ( not that BJ has even been doing that lately ), I see BJ stupidly slugging it out on the feet being really tentative for 3 rounds and either getting 30-27'd in quite a dull fight, or KTFO.
