Is it wrong that I'm more excited for the Bendo/Guida fight? Not saying I'm not excited for Cain/JDS, just more excited.

If by excited you mean wanting to see Clay Guida get kicked in his fucking cave man face again, then yeah I am excited for that fight as well lol.
They're trying to avoid the whole EliteXC debacle that over ran an extra hour and was filled with bullshit fluff like dancing girls and shitty production value.
No, they can still start the broadcast with the title fight and then based on the time left after choose which, if any, earlier fight they want to show as well. What they are doing is that no matter how much time they have remaining after they won't show any other fight.
Wait
so there's seriously only 1 televised fight?
...this is fucking stupid. Just show a normal card. Or make it 4 fights if you really want to hedge your bets as far as timing goes.
I'm just trying to make sense out of it.
Bendo/Guida is pretty much guaranteed to be exciting so one would think it'd be common sense to let it be the lead in to the main event on network television. Only so much pre-fight analysis can be done so I'm guessing they're taking the extra time to stupify every bit of info to introduce it to new fans without confusing them with additional fights.
Sooooooo in other words the show on Fox is pretty much being set up like boxing? Wtf?????? How is that a good idea. It's your first ever showing. Go balls to the wall.
Well they are advertising it as a HW title fight for free so I think it makes sense to start with that fight and have no fights lead into it. You will have a lot of new eyes on the sport so don't risk a shitty fight as a lead in. What does suck is that good fights won't even get any air time afterwards. Maybe this is a good idea for your casual fan who will enjoy the post fight stuff that you see in other sports but for your more hard core mma fans it kinda sucks to know that these other guys won't really benefit from the huge audience. A big downside to this is there is a chance the title fight sucks and if you can't even fit in an exciting fight that was on earlier then they will be screwed.
exactly, this is the casual fans first introduction to MMA. they have no knowledge of the ground game, they have no concept of striking beyond boxing, they know none of the history nor any of the fighters. it's a lot to take in but i'm guessing the post-fight stuff will be something of an introductory course to the sport.
If anything you would think that's why they should have Bendo/Guida televised.
When casual/new fans think of combat sports, they think of two giant dudes slugging it out. The introduction to the lighter weight classes comes after they watch this fight and decide it's something they may want to check out in the future.
especially since Guida's last fight was boring as shit
I know I say this every UFC event but I am REALLY getting fucked up. Goddamn I can't wait, facebook fights included.
Prelims have started.. and the bad judging begins!
Even though Escovedo is getting destroyed, him pushing Herb Dean out of his way when he got kicked in the balls was some of the most badass shit ever.
Mackens fights are almost guaranteed fotn.
Pretty impressive fight by Bruce Leroy. Very disciplined and stuck to his game plan.
That'll get overturned soon.
It'll be a NC soon enough.
