The whole "Grand Prix" nonsense was a gimmick from the get go. Anyways I got Barnett too, the Cormier hype train is hard to understand.

well he did box Silva into an early grave in one round and besides Warren and Lindland is the most decorated wrestler to ever compete in MMA
he started late and is only 9 fights deep but i'm pretty interested to see where the dude can go; his resume is outstanding and he's passed every test with flying colors. think he has a good chance at upsetting Josh if he uses his wrestling in reverse to stand and trade. Barnett's striking has improved by leaps and bounds but it's still the weakest aspect of his game
If Daniel decides to keep it on the feet and kickbox with Josh, he could win. Cormier has some big fucking power to put out Bigfoot. That head shatters mountains (and hands apparently). That said, Barnett's a crafty SOB and could take a limb anytime. In the clinch I like Josh too, despite Cormier's creds.
Zombie getting a title shot!
Just watched the Zombie fight last night (thank God for Combat Channel reruns); Dude is sick. Provided Aldo beats Koch (which he will, of course), should be an epic fight.
aldo tkz will be an unexpected money fight for ufc. hope aldo makes it through koch unscathed (lol)
I can see the fight going one of two ways. Either Aldo scores a quick freak knock out or it's a complete and total 5 round fight of the night war. I don't think there's any possible way this fight can be anything less than awesome. I know I'm pulling for Zombie.
zombie will prob gas and die around 3 4 5. the only reason he has never died before is because garcia tries not to punch his opponents. his other fights are remarkably shorter and involve his head getting kicked off or he finishes like a boss. had he not hit that random ass uppercut i think poirier would have murder death killed him over 4 and 5
Premature title shot imo. I like Zombie as much as the next guy but the dude wasn't even remotely considered a contender pre-Dustin. There's too many other fighters who have been considered contenders too long to simply jump the gun like that.
It'll sell though, which is why I imagine they're doing it.
I'll agree that it's definitely too soon. He's going to be a massive underdog. I'll still be rooting for him.
love to watch him fight but Aldo is gonna fuck him right up
While I still think TKZ is awesome, as was the fight as a whole, Poirier made TKZ's win much more valuable. He has crazy defensive skills.
It's pretty easy to see why they gave him a title shot. The first twister in UFC history, one of the fastest knockouts in UFC history, and an impressive performance against someone who was considered a top contender.
Hioki already said he wants a few more fights before Aldo, KZ is the next logical choice.
Hatsu ducking Aldo confuses me. He's gonna lose to a young prospect like Alcantara or something at some point and never get a chance at the title ever again. Get your ass in there you slacking motherfucker. Beating Lamas isn't impressing anybody.
Who do you guys got for tomorrow's Strikeforce card? I am predicting that Cormier is going to tool Barnett standing and warmaster won't be able to take him down. Got El Nino winning by UD or (hopefully) TKO.
my heart is going for Cormier in the upset as well but Josh is way bigger and way more experienced and very durable, think Cro Cop was the last guy to hurt him and he's faced some mean strikers in the interim. Cormier has the tools but with basically 0 margin for error is going to have to fight a perfect fight
Thomson hasn't been the same since injuries tore his body apart and he looked pretty awful against Noons. dunno how much that dude has left and Gilbo is not the fighter to find out against, as Josh discovered the last time he fought Melendez coming off an injury
Cavalcante is the more skilled athlete but Kyle is a powerful, punishing fighter and Feijao's chin didn't hold up last time, doubt it will this time
knows he has almost no chance to win, and would derail his career while getting himself hospitalized. you see cats ducking titles shots all the time in boxing for them reasons. one of the reasons i love MMA (gogo dictatorial monopoly) but it's pretty common in other combat sports
Baby-face/El Niño/Feijão/JZ (I hope).
I wanna know why JZ is on the undercard and two punks kids with less total fights combined than him are on the main. I don't care if he hasn't been the same since his injury.
Cormier is an underdog? You guys really think Barnett is going to be able to take him down, let alone catch him? He's much faster than big baby.
cheering hard for cormier and el nino. havent even seen the rest of the card LOL
Barnett. Cormier knocks out Silva, something a LHW had almost done before, scoring his biggest win and now all of a sudden he's some kind of K-1 champion level striker. The guy has talent no doubt but the hype train behind him is pretty ridiculous.
