I think it has legit and exaggerated points. Just like any martial art that is insular to some degree and sharpens itself against itself there are going to be some moves that looks amazing but would be shut down really easily in the 'real world'

no 10th planet pupil or teacher does anything of note at ADCC or Mundials. Bravo gained his fame through submitting Royler Gracie with a triangle (a triangle that had nothing to do with rubber guard) at Abu Dhabi ten years ago in a quarterfinals match, and then got annihilated by Leo Vieira in the semifinals where he failed to score a single point. he then ducked a rematch with Royler and never went to ADCC again, in fact never competed again anywhere as far as i know

the silly names aside it's an interesting system and can produce results, Aoki uses rubber guard to great effect in MMA and my lanky ass personally loves the lock down in half guard, but at the highest levels of BJJ competition it's nearly worthless

he may be right that classical jiu-jitsu has gotten stale but something like the deep half guard is a hundred times more important to the competition scene than anything 10th Planet has come up with. it's more a gimmick than anything else
