Weidman still looks pretty bad on his feet and hasn't fought anyone as good at wrestling as Munoz. Mark isn't a traditional shoot-in guy, wasn't in college either, so his wrassle doesn't always translate too well to MMA but his sprawl and scrambling and single-leg are top tier

Munoz was outstruck by Maia, Weidman outstuck Maia. Seems to me that Munoz is the one that has looked bad on the feet. As Blarg pointed out, Munoz has been knocked down in all his latest fights.

Munoz has the TD accuracy of 23% in the UFC/WEC and Weidman has the TD accuracy of 69%. Now while Weidman hasn't fought Okami or Simpson like Munoz has, who are tough wrestlers, ya'll should remember how badly Munoz did against Kendall Grove. 1/8 on TDs on Grove is damn near laughable.

And people always talk about how badly Weidman looked against Maia, but that match was an easy win for Weidman. No controversy there. Munoz/Maia on the other hand probably should have been a draw. At bare minimum, Maia murdered Munoz in the first round. Maia couldn't do shit to Weidman however.

what the hell are you talking about Munoz wasn't knocked down in the Maia, Leben, Dolloway, or Simpson fights, his last four. Okami was the last guy to drop him and he returned the favor by dropping Okami in the same fight.

and Weidman is strictly a point fighter on the feet, he avoids damage and sets up takedowns and lands throwaway strikes that do little damage in the Shields/Aoki style. Munoz meanwhile has big power and can win a fight from there and I think that's gonna be the difference.

and like i said if you watched Munoz's wrestling career you'd see why his wrestling style struggles in MMA in certain fights but should be just fine against Weidman. the Grove fight in particular he was terrible because his circuits got so badly scrambled with that uppercut he dove into.

I stand corrected. I remember that first round way different then what it actually was. Was probably the surprise of Maia actually beating somebody in the stand up. Can't remember every little thing about every fight from a year ago perfectly

Fuck that. All I remember about that fight is being pissed off that those leg kicks from way the fuck out there barely hitting Rampage were scoring. Shit, I don't even like Rampage. Good leg kicks come from guys like Alves, Aldo, Barry, etc where they throw their whole body into it. Forrest uses them to keep distance and has no power behind them, which I wouldn't mind if he used them to set shit up but he rarely does 'cause he's slow as fucking hell.

Belcher would be a cool comeback story if he got to the title. Fucked up eye and all that.
